Job Summary

A Heavy Equipment Counter Parts Professional assists customers, mechanics, and service technicians by identifying, sourcing, and supplying parts for construction, agricultural, mining, or industrial equipment. This role requires strong product knowledge, excellent customer service skills, and the ability to manage inventory and parts orders accurately and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist customers and technicians in identifying correct heavy equipment parts and components
  • Process parts orders in person, by phone, and through email systems
  • Maintain accurate inventory records and stock levels
  • Research part numbers using manufacturer catalogs and software systems
  • Coordinate with vendors and suppliers to order unavailable parts
  • Prepare quotes, invoices, and purchase orders
  • Receive, inspect, and stock incoming parts shipments
  • Handle returns, warranty claims, and core exchanges
  • Ensure the parts department remains organized and clean
  • Promote additional products and services when appropriate
  • Support service department operations to minimize equipment downtime
  • Follow workplace safety procedures and company policies

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous experience in heavy equipment, diesel, automotive, or industrial parts sales preferred
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of heavy machinery systems
  • Familiarity with inventory management software and parts lookup systems
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to work in a fast -paced environment
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Basic computer proficiency including email, spreadsheets, and inventory systems
  • Ability to lift and move parts weighing up to 50 pounds

Preferred Skills

  • Experience reading equipment schematics and technical manuals
  • Understanding of diesel engine and hydraulic systems
  • Sales and upselling experience
  • Forklift certification is a plus
