Parts Counter Specialist: Get Cars to the Front Line Faster

Why This Role Matters

Every vehicle we acquire goes through reconditioning before it reaches our sales line. The speed of that process depends heavily on one position: the parts counter. When parts are sourced quickly and ordered correctly, technicians stay productive, repairs close on time, and vehicles reach the front line sooner.

As our Parts Counter Specialist, you will be the driving force behind that process. Your decisions will directly reduce average days in reconditioning, shorten the time from acquisition to sale, and balance cost against speed so the shop runs efficiently and profitably.

What You Will Do

• Source, quote, and order parts for customer-pay repairs and internal reconditioning
• Prioritize orders to keep vehicles moving through recon and onto the sales line
• Weigh cost, quality, and delivery time to select the best option for each job, including OEM, aftermarket, and local suppliers
• Track open orders, backorders, and deliveries so no repair is held up waiting on a part
• Partner with technicians, service advisors, and management to keep repair orders on schedule
• Manage inbound and outbound calls with vendors, suppliers, and customers
• Maintain accurate parts records in our dealer management system
• Identify recurring delays or cost issues and recommend improvements to our process

What You Bring

• Strong working knowledge of automobiles and their components; experience with European and luxury vehicles is a plus
• Parts counter, dealership, or independent repair shop experience preferred
• Precision and accuracy in quoting, ordering, and record keeping
• Sound judgment when balancing cost, quality, and turnaround time
• The ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced shop environment
• Clear, professional communication with coworkers, vendors, and customers
• A strong work ethic and a willingness to grow with the company
