Job Description

 The Pathologist’s primary role is to work with customers in the interpretation of results in slides reviews. Also must educate the customers on proper utilization of diagnostics tests. Provides insight regarding the interpretation of test results, requiring a tremendous amount of face-time with pathologists at customer sites. Develop and enforce medical and scientific strategy for respective business area. Provides strategic direction to commercial Sr Leadership. Will serve as a pathologist subject matter expert. 

Provides strategic decision making, leadership and planning including the efficient and effective use of resources. Achieves results through the leadership of managerial, professional and/or support staff. Coordinates all activities related to management and implementation of initiatives specific to assigned area of responsibility 

Responsible for maintaining and continuously improving the quality system and achieving quality objectives through daily actions. 

The successful Pathologist candidate: 

• Works extensively with customers, particularly in slide reviews. Builds relationship and demonstrates the clinical outcome and benefits of company products to thought leaders. Educates and demonstrates the benefits of key products to scientific and clinical customers. 

• Coordinates continuing education workshops, seminars, and programs for graduate physicians, pharmacists, and scientists

• Serves as the highest level technical support for customers, sales and marketing before transferring to global. Addresses customer’s scientific inquiries (on-label and off-label unsolicited requests), documents requests and actions, troubleshoots issues and customer applications at site. Additionally, has the impact of affecting the marketing approach through gap-fill strategies. 

• Disseminates project information/customer interaction. Attends appropriate U.S. and international scientific congresses, develops in-depth understanding of clinical practices and regulations, maintains understanding and insight into current lab and clinical practices and guidelines and investigates and reports internally on competitor technologies and products.

• Represents Roche Diagnostics’ portfolio both scientifically and clinically. Typically, will serve as a SME for a particular disease area or assay(s). 

• Work with Senior Scientific Affairs Manager in engagement on entire study strategy for the business area(s) they represent. Integrated into the Scientific Affairs field-based team strategy. Participate in weekly meetings in assessing customer demands in North America. Represents MSA to business partners. 

• Develops educational programs for pathologists. Attend scientific forums and drive corporate advisory boards in order to remain current. 

• Has extensive involvement with high-visible launches including peer-to-peer training for early adopter sites and new customers, working with Scientific Affairs Managers to build education programs for launches and manage logistics of training. 

• Is involved in on-site customer programs, such as VIPs, Visiting Scientist Programs, and 360 views in Tucson. 

• Is open to extensive travel required (may be >60% depending on customer demand)

SKILLS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Does the candidate have an MD in Anatomic Pathology? 

Does the candidate have 5 years of prior experience 

IDEAL CANDIDATE

An MD in Pathology who is very personable, able to develop relationships with internal and external stakeholders and who can represent Roche Diagnostics portfolio both scientifically and clinically. Candidate will serve as the SME for a particular disease area or assay (s)
