Job Description:

Responsible for registering patients in multiple service lines all necessary demographic, financial, and clinical information from the patient or representative.

As a Patient Access Associate I / Central Scheduler, you need to know how to
Schedule and pre-register patients for appointments, outpatient visits, procedures, and other appointments captured by the department.

- Confirm patient information including demographic and insurance information. Utilize 5 identifiers to ensure correct patient is selected. Create an estimate if requested prior to securing the patient on the schedule. MSP questions answered and verified at each Registration if applicable.
Educate patients on procedure preparations, appropriate dress requirements, special instructions as guided by the Scheduled Procedure Protocol. Read and schedule patients based on the physician order and instruction.

Attach the order to the appointment accordingly.
Prioritize work for optimal reimbursement and to avoid financial risk to both patient and hospital. Refer self-pay patients to financial counseling to secure the account. Inform patients and providers of out of network payer status if applicable.
Act as a liaison between the physician partner and the care site.
- Coordinate patient encounter utilizing multiple system applications:

various scheduling applications, clinical operating systems, eligibility verification systems, medical necessity applications, scanning repository.
 

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent is preferred. 

• Demonstrated proficiency in computer skills including Microsoft Office, internet and email required. 

• Experience with Epic preferred.

• Customer service experience, preferably in a healthcare setting, is required. 

• Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Interact with others by effectively communicating, both orally and in writing.- and -Operate computers and other office equipment requiring the ability to move fingers and hands.- and -See and read computer monitors and documents.- and -Remain sitting or standing for long periods of time to perform work on a computer, telephone, or other equipment.- and -May require lifting and transporting objects and office supplies, bending, kneeling and reaching.

The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience. 

$17.87 - $24.99
