At Valley Presbyterian Hospital, our Surgical Services team is committed to providing safe, compassionate, and high-quality care throughout every patient's surgical journey. We're seeking a dedicated Patient Care Assistant (PCA) to support our operating room team by assisting with patient care, surgical preparation, patient transport, and maintaining a safe, efficient surgical environment.

What You'll Do
Assist with the preparation and care of surgical patients before, during, and after procedures
Safely transport patients to and from the Operating Room while following patient identification and safety protocols
Assist the surgical team with patient positioning under the direction of the surgeon
Prepare operating rooms by ensuring equipment, supplies, and instruments are ready for scheduled procedures
Assist with room turnover, cleaning, and preparation between surgical cases
Handle surgical specimens, blood products, and amputations according to hospital policy
Restock Operating Room supplies and report equipment or supply concerns to the Charge Nurse
Support orientation and training of new staff and students as assigned
Follow infection prevention standards, safety protocols, and hospital policies to promote a safe surgical environment
Participate in performance improvement initiatives and maintain a collaborative, team-focused approach to patient care
What You'll Bring
2–5 years of operating room experience in an acute care setting preferred
Medical Assistant training preferred
Knowledge of surgical environments, sterile practices, and patient safety principles
Strong communication, teamwork, and customer service skills
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced operating room environment
Commitment to compassionate, patient-centered care and continuous learning
Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent
Current BLS certification
Ability to obtain and maintain an LA County Fire Card within 30 days of hire
Must maintain all required certifications, mandatory education, and occupational health requirements
