Patient Care Technician - Surgical Trauma ICU (STICU) (PCT)

Job Overview

As a Patient Care Technician (PCT) on the Surgical Trauma ICU (STICU), you’ll support nurses in caring for critically ill, high‑acuity patients. You’ll assist with hygiene, mobility, vital signs, documentation, and provide compassionate bedside care, including support for patients nearing end of life. Your steady presence and attention to detail help ensure safe, high‑quality care during patients’ most vulnerable moments.

What You’ll Do

• Provide direct patient care including bathing, oral care, toileting, and linens


• Support safe mobility including repositioning and transfers


• Monitor and record vital signs


• Document patient information accurately


• This role includes exposure to bodily fluids and sensitive patient situations


• Safely lift/move up to 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation

About the Surgical Trauma ICU (STICU)

The STICU cares for high‑acuity surgical and trauma patients, offering a fast‑paced environment where PCTs develop strong clinical judgment and hands‑on skills. You’ll work closely with ICU nurses and providers, gaining experience that prepares you for long‑term growth in critical care and advanced clinical pathways.

Requirements

• Basic Life Support (BLS) within six months of hire


• High school diploma or GED preferred


• Completion of required PCT classes for the unit
