Full-time

Description

Are you someone who enjoys helping people, stays organized when things get busy, and takes pride in getting the details right?

Milwaukee Eye Care Associates, S.C. is seeking a full-time Patient Service Representative (PSR) to join our team. Our PSRs are an important part of the patient experience and serve as a key connection between our patients, providers, and clinical teams.

This is more than a traditional receptionist position. Our PSRs manage multiple aspects of the patient visit, including registration, scheduling, insurance verification, check-in and check-out, payment collection, and patient communication. We are looking for someone who can learn and retain information, think critically, problem-solve, and confidently apply what they have learned in a busy healthcare environment.

What You'll Do

As a Patient Service Representative, you will:

  • Welcome patients and provide a friendly, professional first impression
  • Complete patient check-in and check-out accurately and efficiently
  • Register patients and verify demographic and insurance information
  • Schedule appointments, testing, referrals, and follow-up care
  • Review insurance eligibility, referrals, and basic vision and medical benefits
  • Collect co-pays, outstanding balances, and payments for non-covered services
  • Accurately enter and maintain information within our electronic health record and practice management systems
  • Communicate appointment information, delays, next steps, and other important information to patients
  • Answer patient questions and help resolve concerns professionally
  • Assist with incoming calls and provide call center coverage as needed
  • Process patient messages, forms, faxes, and medical record requests
  • Coordinate closely with providers, technicians, and other team members to keep patients moving efficiently through the office
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and follow HIPAA and organizational policies
  • Support other locations and responsibilities as operational needs change

Who We're Looking For

The strongest candidates are people who are:

  • Patient-focused – You genuinely enjoy helping people and understand that even routine interactions can make a difference in a patient's experience.
  • Accurate and detail-oriented – You understand the importance of getting names, insurance information, appointments, payments, and documentation right.
  • Strong critical thinkers – You can assess a situation, use the information and training available to you, and determine the appropriate next step.
  • Quick learners – You can learn new systems, processes, terminology, and workflows and apply that knowledge consistently.
  • Organized multitaskers – You can manage patients, phones, messages, scheduling, and administrative responsibilities while maintaining accuracy.
  • Clear communicators – You are comfortable speaking with patients, providers, coworkers, and insurance representatives.
  • Dependable and accountable – You take ownership of your responsibilities and can work independently once trained.
  • Flexible team players – You are willing to step in where needed and adapt to changing patient volumes, schedules, and priorities.
