Job Description - Peer Recovery Coordinator

Role Overview


A relationship-focused professional responsible for creating meaningful connections between program participants, the association, and the aligned certification programs. This includes facilitating programs and developing engagement strategies. This role combines customer service excellence with strategic planning to foster an active and engaged professional community of peer recovery specialists in Rhode Island.


 


Key Responsibilities


Member Experience



  • Serve as primary point of contact for RIPRPA member inquiries and needs

  • Monitor new member applications and onboard new members of RIPRPA with personalized outreach

  • Create engagement pathways for different member segments

  • Develop member recognition and appreciation programs

  • Coordinate member spotlights and success stories

  • Facilitate peer-to-peer connections and networking

  • Support members in accessing resources

  • Facilitate exam prep sessions

  • Facilitate advisory council and all-member events


 


Program Development



  • Design and implement engagement initiatives

  • Coordinate PRS trainings and professional development sessions, including designating trainers/speakers, sending invitations to PRS, and ensuring enrollment numbers

  • Assist in RIPRPA event planning

  • Create targeted outreach campaigns

  • Create and distribute member outreach communications and surveys

  • Develop engagement metrics and tracking systems

  • Build relationships with key stakeholders and volunteer leaders

  • Maintain current list of organizations in RI that employ PRS


 


Communications



  • Write member communications and newsletters

  • Create content for member resources

  • Maintain Learning Central calendar, RIPRPA job board, and RI Recovery Community Events Calendar

  • Moderate online member discussions

  • Coordinate member testimonials

  • Develop onboarding communications

  • Partner with the Communications Manager to create campaign materials


 


Data & Analytics



  • Track member engagement metrics

  • Monitor member participation and patterns

  • Analyze member feedback and survey data

  • Generate member engagement reports

  • Maintain accurate member and community partner records

  • Report on engagement initiatives

  • Maintain ongoing environmental scan of community partners in the SUD continuum of care

  • Maintain ongoing environmental scan of workforce development programs in RI, including trade schools, post-incarceration work programs, and collegiate recovery programs.


 


Program Administration



  • Manage day-to-day operations of certification programs

  • Oversee application and exam processes

  • Provide additional administrative support to workforce development team.


 


Candidate Support



  • Respond to candidate inquiries

  • Review certification applications

  • Provide guidance on eligibility requirements

  • Coordinate special testing accommodations

  • Support preparation resource development

  • Serve as liaison to RI Certification Board


 


Required Qualifications



  • Certified Peer Recovery Specialist (CPRS)

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

  • Strong Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)

  • Database management experience

  • Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities

  • Data analysis and reporting capabilities

  • Event planning experience

  • Professional written and verbal communication

  • Experience with virtual event platforms


 


 


Preferred Qualifications



  • Knowledge of the addiction recovery process

  • Knowledge of adult learning principles

  • Experience in professional associations

  • Ability to speak and write in Spanish and/or Portuguese and/or another language other than English


 


Physical Requirements and Availability



  • Must be able to perform physical tasks including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods

  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required for travel between locations/sites

  • Schedule includes some evening and weekend hours to support special events, programs, and organizational needs
