PEM Hardware Installer

Position Summary

The PEM Hardware Installer is responsible for installing and setting PEM (self-clinching) fasteners into sheet metal components to meet engineering and quality standards. This role requires strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to operate and set up insertion equipment in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This position works closely with the Sheet Metal and Forming Department and offers the opportunity to grow into a Sheet Metal Former role through on-the-job training.

Key Responsibilities

• Install PEM hardware (self-clinching fasteners, studs, nuts, standoffs, etc.) into metal components using presses or insertion machines


• Read and interpret blueprints, work instructions, and engineering drawings


• Set up and operate PEM insertion equipment, ensuring proper tooling, alignment, and pressure settings


• Inspect finished parts to verify proper installation, flushness, and quality requirements


• Perform routine equipment maintenance and basic troubleshooting


• Identify and report defects or non-conforming parts


• Maintain accurate production and quality records


• Follow all safety procedures and company policies


• Work collaboratively with team members, including the Sheet Metal and Forming Department, to meet production goals

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent


• Basic mechanical aptitude and experience with hand and power tools


• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings


• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality


• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods

• Experience setting up and operating PEM hardware insertion equipment with automated feeders


• Ability to troubleshoot and adjust insertion equipment for optimal performance


• Familiarity with inspection tools (calipers, gauges, etc.)

Work Environment

• Manufacturing / shop floor setting


• Exposure to machinery, noise, and metal materials


• Required use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
