Job Description - Perioperative Implant/Tissue Specialist

Job Summary

Summary: Responsible for coordinating inventory, implant, tissue, instrumentation, and specialty product activities supporting surgical and procedural services across assigned clinical areas. Serves as a liaison between clinical teams, vendors, sterile processing, and supply chain partners to support product availability, inventory accuracy, procedural readiness, and continuity of patient care.

Essential Functions:
Coordinates implant, tissue, instrumentation, and specialty product requests to support surgical and procedural case readiness.

Collaborates with clinical staff, vendors, sterile processing, and supply chain partners to support the timely delivery, availability, and replenishment of specialty products and supplies required for scheduled and emergent procedures

Initiates and tracks requisitions for implants, tissues, instrumentation, specialty products, and procedural supplies to support inventory availability and procedural readiness.

Maintains assigned inventory locations, including organization, product rotation, labeling, storage integrity, and inventory accuracy.

Monitors inventory levels, par levels, product utilization, and inventory accuracy; initiates replenishment activities and escalates supply concerns to minimize shortages, excess inventory, and waste.

Investigates and resolves product, inventory, and supply availability issues impacting scheduled and emergent procedural cases, escalating concerns as appropriate.

Coordinates communication related to back orders, substitutions, delayed deliveries, and supply continuity issues impacting surgical and procedural services across assigned clinical areas.

Supports inventory tracking, documentation, and reconciliation activities, including the use of inventory management systems, RFID technology, and related operating tools

Serves as a resource to clinical and operational teams regarding specialty products, inventory status, procedural readiness, and supply continuity.

Participates in departmental and interdisciplinary initiatives related to inventory optimization, workflow improvement, operational efficiency, and procedural supply support.

Performs other duties as assigned


 

Qualifications

Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent required

Can this role accept experience in lieu of Education requirements? No

Licenses and Certifications:

Experience: Experience in materials management, inventory control, or procurement 2-3 years required and Implant/Tissue Management Experience 2- 3 years preferred


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Strong attention to detail, with a diligent and organized approach to tasks.

Exceptional customer service and problem-solving skills are essential.

Must be able to speak, read, write and understand medical terminology in order to follow written instructions and complete various forms and records regarding equipment processing and preparation of equipment.

Knowledge of inventory control practices, product rotation, par level management, and supply chain workflows preferred.

Ability to collaborate effectively with clinical staff, vendors, and interdisciplinary teams to support procedural operations.
