Brainerd Crossroads (The BX) is a 54,000-square-foot fitness, recreation, and meeting facility operated by Brainerd Baptist Church. Open to the public, the BX offers many of the amenities found in a quality fitness center while providing a welcoming environment for people of all ages and fitness levels.

POSITION SUMMARY
The BX is seeking a Personal Trainer who is passionate about fitness, people, and ministry. The ideal candidate will align with the beliefs and mission of Brainerd Baptist Church and be committed to helping clients achieve their fitness goals while building authentic relationships.

This position includes one-on-one personal training, small group training, fitness assessments, and leading exercise classes. The trainer will play a key role in creating a positive and encouraging environment that promotes physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being.

EMPLOYMENT STATUS
This position is an independent contractor role. The selected trainer will be responsible for building and growing their own personal training business within the BX facility.

The BX will provide access to the facility, equipment, and members, but the trainer will be expected to actively market their services, generate leads, build a client base, and retain clients through exceptional service and relationship building.

Successful candidates will be self-motivated, entrepreneurial, and comfortable promoting their services both within the BX community and through their own marketing efforts. Trainers are expected to manage their own schedules, client communications, and business growth while operating in a manner that reflects the mission and values of Brainerd Baptist Church and the BX.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Agreement with and support of the mission and beliefs of Brainerd Baptist Church.
• Nationally accredited Personal Training Certification (NASM, ACE, ACSM, NSCA, or equivalent).
• Current CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications.
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Knowledge of strength training, endurance training, power development, mobility, and program design.
• Ability to develop individualized programs that help clients achieve both short-term and long-term goals.
• Comfortable conducting fitness assessments and consultations.
• Strong coaching, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to motivate and manage both individual clients and group fitness participants.
• Experience working with people of varying ages, abilities, and fitness levels.
• Ability to effectively market personal training services and generate new clientele.
• Experience with client retention and relationship building.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Team-oriented attitude and willingness to contribute to the overall success of the BX.
• Desire for continual personal and professional growth.
• Remains current on industry certifications, education, and fitness trends.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Ministry and Relationship Building

• Look for opportunities to demonstrate and share the love of Christ through daily interactions with members and clients.
• Build meaningful relationships that foster trust, encouragement, and personal growth.
• Support the mission of the BX by creating a welcoming and Christ-centered environment.

Client Consultations and Assessments

• Conduct initial consultations to understand a member's goals, needs, limitations, and motivations.
• Perform fitness assessments and recommend appropriate training services.
• Develop personalized training programs designed to help clients safely and effectively achieve their goals.

Personal Training and Group Fitness

• Lead one-on-one personal training sessions.
• Lead small group and group fitness classes as needed.
• Provide proper instruction on exercise technique, safety, and equipment use.
• Educate clients on the purpose and benefits of exercises so they understand the “why” behind their training.
• Modify workouts as needed to accommodate various fitness levels and physical limitations.
• Monitor client progress and make adjustments to programming when appropriate.

Client Management

• Maintain accurate client records, assessments, workout programs, and session tracking within gym management software.
• Follow up with clients regularly to encourage accountability and retention.
• Actively market personal training services and build a client base through networking, referrals, and relationship building.
• Be responsible for generating and retaining personal training clients.

Facility Support

• Help maintain a clean, safe, and organized fitness environment.
• Ensure equipment is properly returned and weights are re-racked after use.
• Report maintenance or safety concerns to leadership.
• Assist with facility events, wellness initiatives, and special programming as needed.

COMPENSATION
This is an independent contractor position. Compensation is based on the trainer's ability to generate and retain clients. Specific facility usage fees and contractor expectations will be discussed during the interview process.
