Pharmacist In Charge

Location: Bronx, New York
Setting: Retail-style pharmacy embedded within a community health center
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM–5:00 PM (30-minute lunch break)

 

About the opportunity
This is a full-time, on-site Pharmacist In Charge role at a community-based pharmacy operating inside a community health center in the Bronx. The pharmacy serves a diverse patient population, and the PIC carries both clinical and operational responsibility — overseeing prescription review, medication dispensing, inventory management, regulatory compliance, and the day-to-day supervision of pharmacy technicians.

What you'll do
• Review and verify provider prescriptions for appropriateness, accuracy, and legality prior to dispensing
• Oversee all aspects of medication inventory, including stocking, labeling, and monitoring to prevent expiration or deterioration
• Prepare medications in correct dosages for individual patients and maintain complete patient medication profiles
• Counsel patients by listening carefully to their needs and providing clear, accurate medication information and guidance
• Ensure the pharmacy and all staff remain compliant with federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and facility policies, including HIPAA and Fraud, Waste, and Abuse requirements
• Direct the daily work of pharmacy technicians, including scheduling, performance input, and escalating behavioral or performance concerns to senior management
• Organize and maintain the physical pharmacy environment for efficient product identification and workflow

 

Top requirements
• Active PharmD license to practice in New York state
• Minimum 5 years of retail pharmacy management experience
• Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a pharmacy technician team in a regulated environment

 

Education
• Doctorate of Pharmacy (PharmD) required

 

Experience
• Minimum 5 years of retail pharmacy manager experience required
• Proficiency with a Patient Management System required
• Previous leadership role helpful

 

Licensure and certifications
• Active New York state pharmacist license required (another state's license does not substitute; the organization will not consider candidates whose license is in process or not yet issued)

 

Compensation
Up to $155,000 and negotiable based on experience.
