DescriptionUnder general supervision, responsible for providing a variety of supportive duties related to the packaging, storage, recording, and delivery of pharmaceuticals and related supplies.
ResponsibilitiesPrepares intravenous (IV) medication using appropriate aseptic technique under pharmacist supervision.
Receives and stores incoming supplies, verify quantities against invoices, and inform supervisors of stock needs, shortages, and expirations.
Delivers medications and pharmaceutical supplies to patients, nursing stations and/or clinic areas as needed following safe handling procedures.
Assists pharmacy staff with maintaining proper storage and security conditions for drugs.
Assists internal customers by answering simple questions, locating items or referring to the pharmacist for medication information.
Completes medication use reports for nurse station crash carts, emergency response kits, and automated medication dispensing machines.
Follows up with the supervising pharmacist to address restock, expired medication, and discrepancies.
Performs all other duties as assigned.
QualificationsAbility to operate and care for automated dispensing devices and equipment.
Knowledge of, and ability to perform, aseptic technique.
Knowledge of basic inventory procedures and pharmacy information systems.
Meticulous attention to detail; exhibits accuracy and thoroughness while monitoring own work for quality.
A solid customer service acumen to effectively work with both internal and external customers and respond to requests in a timely and respectful manner.
Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communications skills.
Licenses & Certifications:
CPhT Certified Pharmacy Technician - Required.
