Physical Education Teacher

Partnership Schools is accepting applications for a PK–8 Physical Education Teacher for the 2026–2027 school year at St. Thomas Aquinas School.

Partnership teachers welcome continuous feedback as they develop their practice and grow professionally. We support teachers through weekly school-based professional development, network-wide meetings, coaching from school leadership, and learning opportunities with nationally recognized partner organizations.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Planning and teaching age-appropriate physical education lessons for students in kindergarten through eighth grade


• Building students’ movement skills, physical fitness, teamwork, sportsmanship, and confidence


• Creating a positive, structured, and inclusive environment where students of all abilities can participate and succeed


• Establishing clear safety expectations and supervising students during physical activities


• Assessing student progress and adapting instruction to meet a range of developmental needs


• Collaborating with colleagues to support students’ well-being and the school’s mission to educate the whole child—mind, body, and spirit


• Communicating with families in a positive and respectful manner


• Participating in professional development, coaching, and feedback

The ideal candidate will have:

• A deep respect for and commitment to preserving and building upon the legacy of urban Catholic education


• Experience teaching physical education or leading developmentally appropriate activities for elementary and middle school students


• The ability to engage students with varied skill levels and needs


• Strong classroom management, communication, and collaboration skills


• A willingness to reflect on their practice and use feedback to grow


• Technological proficiency and adaptability


• The ability to set priorities and follow through

Position requirements:

• An uncompromising belief that all students can learn


• Bachelor’s degree or higher


• Ability to pass a background check

Compensation

Early-career teachers: Teachers with 0–3 years of experience will be paid no less than $42,000. After three years, teachers have the opportunity to earn at least $50,000.

Experienced teachers: Our pay scale allows flexibility for candidates transferring from another school or district. Salaries are determined based on years of teaching and school leadership experience, as well as an evaluation of instructional mastery and mission alignment through an in-person demonstration lesson and interview. Opportunities for promotion occur every 3–5 years based on clear, published criteria, with the potential for increases of up to 17% in promotion years.
