Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Physical Therapist (PT) for a 13-week travel assignment in Juneau, Alaska.

This role is ideal for a licensed Physical Therapist with at least 1 year of clinical experience who is comfortable evaluating and treating patients with mobility, strength, balance, orthopedic, neurological, and functional limitations.

The Physical Therapist will develop individualized treatment plans, provide evidence-based rehabilitation services, educate patients and families, and collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, case managers, and other rehabilitation professionals.

Candidates must hold an active Alaska Physical Therapist license, current BLS certification, and a valid driver’s license.

Key Responsibilities

·        Evaluate patients with musculoskeletal, neurological, mobility, balance, and functional impairments.

·        Develop individualized treatment plans based on clinical findings and patient goals.

·        Provide therapeutic exercise, gait training, balance training, transfer training, and functional mobility interventions.

·        Perform strength, range-of-motion, endurance, and mobility assessments.

·        Provide manual therapy and other appropriate physical therapy interventions within scope of practice.

·        Monitor patient progress and modify treatment plans as needed.

·        Assist patients recovering from injury, illness, surgery, or other medical conditions.

·        Educate patients and families regarding home exercise programs, mobility strategies, fall prevention, and recovery expectations.

·        Recommend appropriate assistive devices and mobility equipment.

·        Participate in interdisciplinary care planning and discharge planning.

·        Collaborate with physicians, nurses, occupational therapists, speech therapists, case managers, and other healthcare professionals.

·        Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation.

·        Follow patient-safety, infection-control, and rehabilitation standards.

·        Manage assigned caseload efficiently while maintaining high-quality patient care.

Required Qualifications

Candidates must have:

·        Active Alaska Physical Therapist license

·        Minimum 1 year of Physical Therapy experience

·        Current BLS / BCLS certification

·        Valid driver’s license

·        Graduation from an accredited Physical Therapy program

·        Strong clinical assessment and treatment-planning skills

·        Strong communication and interdisciplinary collaboration skills

·        Ability to work independently and manage multiple patient-care priorities

Education Requirements

Candidates must meet one of the following educational pathways:

·        Entry-level Master’s or Doctorate degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited program

OR

·        Graduation from an APTA-approved Physical Therapy program at the bachelor’s or master’s level, with sufficient professional experience and continuing education to meet applicable licensure requirements

Preferred Experience

Strong candidates may also have:

·        Acute-care Physical Therapy experience

·        Hospital-based rehabilitation experience

·        Orthopedic rehabilitation experience

·        Neurological rehabilitation experience

·        Post-surgical rehabilitation experience

·        Gait and balance training experience

·        Fall-prevention experience

·        Previous travel therapy experience

·        Experience working with medically complex patients

Schedule Requirements

·        Day Shift

·        40 hours per week

·        Scheduling may vary within department operating hours.

·        Typical department coverage may include:

o   Monday–Friday: approximately 7:00 AM–6:00 PM

o   Saturday: approximately 8:00 AM–1:00 PM

·        Exact shift assignments may vary based on patient volume and department needs.

Additional Requirements

·        Influenza vaccination is required unless an approved exemption is permitted under facility policy.

·        Candidates must maintain all required licensure and certifications throughout the assignment.

·        A valid driver’s license is required.
