Clinical Care
Perform physical examinations, obtain medical histories, and document patient information
Develop and implement treatment plans for new and established patients
Order and interpret diagnostic studies as appropriate
Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans and medications
Consult with physicians as needed to assess patient condition and care plans
Care Coordination
Provide ongoing monitoring and continuity of care between physician visits
Deliver follow-up care in accordance with practice guidelines
Ensure medical records and administrative documentation are completed accurately and in a timely manner
Preoperative & Perioperative Responsibilities
Perform preoperative assessments and confirm completion of required documentation
Evaluate patients for compliance with admission and procedural requirements
Confirm that medical clearance and diagnostic testing are completed and documented
Notify the Medical Director or physician if a patient does not meet criteria for outpatient procedures
Educate patients and families on the perioperative process and expectations
Assist with surgical scheduling as needed
Clinical Support & Compliance
Perform duties within the scope of privileges approved by the governing body
Document physician orders and ensure proper execution of care plans
Administer medications and monitor patients in accordance with facility policy
Assist with preoperative and postoperative activities
Support medical and administrative staff as needed
Participate in patient rounding when required
Travel between locations as needed
Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills
Ability to work independently while collaborating with physicians and care teams
Excellent communication and patient education skills
Strong organizational and documentation abilities
Ability to respond effectively in emergency situations
Ability to follow instructions with minimal supervision
Professional demeanor and commitment to patient-centered care
Strong customer service orientation
Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program
Current Virginia PA licensure (or eligibility)
NCCPA certification required
Prior orthopedic or surgical experience preferred
