Who we are looking for:
We are currently looking for a Plant Manager to be based out of Louisville, KY. Reporting to the Vice President Operations, this person will be responsible for directing and managing plant operations for extrusion processing, maintenance, quality, and shipping/receiving. This position will coordinate plant activities through the planning with departmental managers to ensure the total manufacturing objectives are accomplished in a safe, timely and cost-effective manner.


The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in related field and/or a minimum of 5 years plant/general management experience in a manufacturing environment or prior success as a Plant Manager or equivalent position at Atkore. Experience in lean manufacturing or business system-based company is a requirement.


What you’ll do:



  • Provide direction, development and leadership for the facility and share best practices with other Plant Managers in running a safe, productive, cost-effective plant

  • Establish and monitor overall plant performance for production and quality standards.

  • Implement cost effective systems of control over capital, operating expenditures, manpower, wages and salaries.

  • Participate in regular P&L reviews to ensure that budgets are met; develops and implements programs for optimal equipment utilization, equipment maintenance, and labor and material costs

  • Control and minimize labor overtime, premium freight and repair expenses.

  • Provide leadership and training to accomplish the company goals and objectives.

  • Maintain existing plant facilities and equipment; replace or make adjustments to plant facilities and equipment when necessary.

  • Manage capital asset maintenance.

  • Implement and maintain preventative maintenance programs.

  • Provide Safety and Health direction and support to personnel; ensures compliance with OSHA and environmental regulations.

  • Incorporate shop floor organization and plant cleanliness among plant personnel.

  • Demonstrate and promote our key Atkore values of Accountability Teamwork, Integrity, Respect, and Excellence, through actions and decisions.


What you’ll bring:



  • Bachelor’s degree in related field and/or a minimum of 5 years plant/general management experience in a manufacturing environment or prior success as a Plant Manager or equivalent position at Atkore.

  • Working knowledge of budgets and financial statements.

  • Background with manufacturing methods, process improvement programs and procedures required.

  • Advanced knowledge and experience of PVC Water pipe extrusion process preferred.

  • Ability to implement Lean Manufacturing practices and drive continuous improvement.

  • Six Sigma / Project Management experience.

  • Excellent written and communications skills

  • Computer literate.  Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Excel and PowerPoint.

  • Proven experience as a mentor/developmental manager for employees

  • Available to occasionally work off shift to provide training and facilitate continuous improvement initiatives to all production shifts.

  • Ability to work both as a member of a team, a team leader or as an individual contributor.

  • Experience managing in a matrixed, mid-to-large organization

Within 3 months, you’ll:



  • Complete your Atkore Immersion and training requirements.

  • Understand how your job will help deliver Atkore’s strategy.

  • Gain an understanding of your team.

  • Have developed relationships with the key stakeholders for this role.

  • Be well-versed in Atkore’s Business System and the importance of your role to daily operations.



Within 6 months, you’ll:



  • Maintain and be accountable for KPI visual reporting while actively participating in Lean Daily Management activities, including GEMBA walks.

  • Create and modify standardized work and ensure consistent application by all team members.

  • Hire talent into your organization, coach and manage performance of your team members and compensation management responsibilities for direct reports.

  • Identify ways to strengthen the team’s commitment to Atkore’s core values of Accountability, Teamwork, Integrity, Respect and Excellence.



Within 12 months, you’ll:



  • Be managing an efficient plant and team that delivers Atkore’s strategy.

  • Have meaningful performance conversations with your direct reports.

  • Be able to resolve any issues quickly and safely.

As of the date of this posting, a good faith estimate of the current pay for this position is $128,080 - $176,110 .  Placement in the range depends on several factors including, but not limited to, specific competencies, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, relevant experience, skills, seniority, performance, shift, travel requirements, and business or organizational needs and may change over time.  Other compensation may include, but not limited to, overtime, shift differentials, bonuses, commissions, stock, and other incentives.
