SUMMARY
The Plant Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation and maintenance of the Surface Water treatment plant in the Western Canyon Division, including monitoring and controlling functions of the distribution system, pump stations, and storage tanks.

High School Diploma or GED.
REGISTRATIONS/LICENSES
Valid driver's license as issued by the State of Texas and the ability to remain insurable under GBRA’s vehicle liability policy.
Occupational licenses as issued by the State of Texas:
EXPERIENCE
None required. Experience in utility operations and maintenance, customer service, or construction is desirable.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Work at elevated levels greater than 30 feet on tanks, roofs, etc. Climb vertical ladders up to 30 feet in height. Repeatedly lift, load, and unload up to 50 pounds. Respond to visual and audible alarms. Wear personal protection equipment such as safety glasses, protective footwear, self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) as outlined in the employee Safety Manual. Safely enter, exit, and work in trenches and confined spaces. Perform basic first aid and CPR. Be able to differentiate colors (red/green). Employees must wear protective footwear in compliance with ANSI or ASTM standard. New employees are provided protective footwear. Replacement footwear is provided annually for qualifying employees.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Eighty (80) percent indoor and 20 percent outdoors. Work can generally be performed in a clean, well-organized environment. There are hazards associated with chemicals and rotating or moving mechanical parts, requiring operators to exercise care in their activities. Work is exposed to hazardous chemicals used in the treatment of water. Work with light trucks, hand tools, occasional power tools, mowers and sprayers, cleaning equipment, laboratory test equipment, and computers.
TRAVEL
Personal transportation is required to normal work site at which point employee will use vehicles provided by GBRA to perform duties. Overnight travel mainly limited to meetings and training.
