Plant Technician

Avant Energy seeks to hire a Plant Technician to join our team.  This position reports directly to the Plant Manager. Flexibility in working hours and days required       

RESPONSIBILITIES

Share physical, operational and mechanical work load of plant.

Operate equipment, perform maintenance activities, troubleshoot operational issues, cover running and monitoring operating equipment.

The Plant Technician will provide technical service and operations support for five Wartsila 34SG natural gas fired reciprocating engines that generating 46 MWs at our Shakopee, MN  facility. 

• Starting/stopping/operating large engines

• Taking log readings on equipment


• Ensuring all safety requirements are met

• Responding/interacting with Dispatchers to respond to peaking load demands.


• Adherence to Environmental Permit parameters 


• Perform Preventive and Break in maintenance tasks


• Use CMMS to ensure work tasks and parts used are captured


• Conduct part replacement research and inventory control using CMMS


• Conduct balancing of Plant equipment monitoring and repair including an LNG system and Heat Recovery system


• Responsible for promoting safe, effective and reliable operation    


• Perform troubleshooting of plant equipment, and corrective maintenance to ensure proper functioning


• Maintenance, overhauls, repairs and replacements of plant equipment.     

QUALIFICATIONS

• 1– 3 years or graduate of technical power plant course or 3-5 years of relevant work experience.

• Technical school or college power plant technician courses, industrial technician course work, electrical course work helpful 


• Possible occupations: Diesel engine mechanic, industrial electrical or mechanical technician, agricultural equipment technician


• Understanding of mechanical and electrical systems


• Mechanical aptitude    


• Willingness to be developed and learn from leadership feedback.


• Working knowledge of basic power plant operations highly preferred


• Good communication, listening and team participation skills
