SUMMARY AND SCOPE OF THE POSITION:
Provide HR support to Prairie Island CBH Inc, including data entry, process/procedure documentation, and HRIS navigation. Assist the HR Manager with activities like employment, compensation, benefits, training, and employee services. The HR Assistant should be passionate about employee training and education.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Organize, maintain, process, and update accurately all employee records, files, and HR systems to meet organizational needs
Assist with the hiring process: Reviewing applications, phone screens, scheduling interviews, onboarding, and maintaining statuses in Applicant Tracking system
Act as technical resource for employees to address and resolve inquiries and problems relating to human resources' function
Facilitate ongoing staff training and certification maintenance
Ensure compliance with legal record-keeping requirements
Manage documentation of progressive disciplinary actions, improvement plans, and terminations
Assist in documenting investigations into employee complaints
Maintain employee records and handle unemployment claims
Assist in building company culture that aligns with cannabis industry values and regulatory expectations
Ability to coordinate meetings and agendas across multiple departments, maintain clear communication and follow-up on action items.
Perform other assigned duties.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
·1-3 years' experience in HR, recruiting, employee training, or a related field
·Professional appearance, attitude, and interpersonal/social skills
·Must complete the application and Cannabis Commission licensing process in a timely and professional manner
·Experience in employee training and onboarding
·Excellent interpersonal, listening, and communication skills
·Knowledge of cannabis industry policies, compliance standards, and regulations.
·Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
·Capable of working independently and within a team
·Must pass a drug screen and criminal background check
HR experience in government and/or tribal setting
HRIS and ATS navigational skills
Experience with employee benefit plans
TECHNICAL SKILLS:
Strong verbal, listening, and written communication skills, with the ability to assess risk effectively
Strong data entry and problem-solving abilities, including overcoming objections and anticipating concerns
Excellent personal organization, time management, and multitasking skills, especially under tight deadlines in a fast-paced and changing environment

·The individual is occasionally required to bend, stretch, and use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls and to reach with hands and arms
·The individual is occasionally required to lift up to 25 lbs.
·The position requires some scheduling flexibility
·Hybrid role working in multiple locations, travel to retail locations and distribution facilities as needed.
