Pre-K Assistant Teacher

Rich Beginnings Child Care Center is looking for a caring, dependable, and enthusiastic Pre-K Assistant Teacher to join our teaching team!

Our Pre-K program provides children with a warm, engaging environment where they can build independence, social-emotional skills, friendships, and a love of learning. The Assistant Teacher works closely with the Lead Teacher to support the daily classroom experience and help create a positive, nurturing environment for every child.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Lead Teacher with daily classroom routines, activities, and transitions
• Support children’s social-emotional development and positive behavior
• Engage children in age-appropriate activities, play, and learning experiences
• Build warm, respectful relationships with children and families
• Help maintain a safe, clean, organized, and welcoming classroom
• Assist with meals, toileting, handwashing, and other daily care routines as needed
• Supervise children and maintain appropriate health and safety practices
• Participate in classroom planning, projects, and special activities
• Communicate and collaborate with the Lead Teacher and other members of the teaching team
• Follow Rich Beginnings policies and New York State OCFS regulations
• Attend staff meetings, professional development, and required trainings
• Help create a classroom environment that is inclusive, supportive, and responsive to each child's individual needs

• Enjoys working with preschool-age children
• Is dependable, patient, caring, and enthusiastic
• Works well as part of a team
• Communicates professionally with children, families, and coworkers
• Is willing to learn and grow as an early childhood professional
• Can actively engage with children through play, conversation, and classroom activities
• Has a positive attitude and a willingness to jump in and help wherever needed

Qualifications

• Degree, certificate, or college coursework in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field
• Previous experience working with preschool-age children
• Understanding of child development and developmentally appropriate practices
• Ability to work collaboratively with a Lead Teacher and teaching team
• Must meet all New York State OCFS employment requirements
• CPR/First Aid certification preferred, or willingness to obtain certification
• Commitment to ongoing professional growth and professional development
