Prepress Technician

The Columbian, a family-owned daily newspaper serving 8,000 readers in the Northwest, is seeking a Prepress Technician to join our printing and production team. This position focuses on electronic pagination, PDF preflighting, and plate output for both offset and digital presses.

Responsibilities Include:

· Preflight and troubleshoot PDF files for ads and editorial content

· Paginate newspaper pages in Adobe InDesign and prepare them for press

· Output pages to plate using the Pro-Image workflow system

· Prepare files for digital printing and offset printing

· Collaborate with editorial, advertising, and pressroom staff to meet tight deadlines

 · 2+ years of experience in prepress, printing production, or graphic design

· Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Acrobat Pro)

· Familiarity with preflight software such as PitStop

· Knowledge of print workflows, digital presses, and plate-making equipment preferred

· Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills
