Prevention Coordinator

Overview
The Prevention Coordinator develops, implements, and evaluates prevention programming that reduces the impact of substance use and promotes healthy youth, families, and communities. This position supports youth councils, school- and family-based programming, grant-funded initiatives, and community outreach efforts.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate the Dunn/Pierce County Youth Council, including development, monthly meetings, a community prevention project, and an annual Youth Summit.


• Facilitate school-based prevention programming for grades 6–12, including Life Skills and Prime for Life.


• Facilitate Nurturing Families programming for parents in Arbor Place’s residential and outpatient programs.


• Assist with the Bright Futures–SA Prevention Grant by mentoring youth leaders, co-facilitating Youth Empowerment Program (YEP) meetings, and supporting youth-led media campaigns.


• Support alcohol/tobacco compliance checks, court diversion programming, and community outreach.


• Serve as an ambassador for Arbor Place, Inc., fostering collaboration with schools, agencies, and community partners.


• Perform additional duties as assigned by the Prevention Manager, Executive Director, and/or Board of Directors.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Alcohol & Other Drug (AOD), Public Health, Behavioral Health, or related field preferred.


• Two years of outreach, engagement, or prevention-related experience.


• Licensed as a Prevention Specialist by the WI Department of Safety and Professional Services within one year of hire.


• Excellent leadership, public speaking, and group facilitation skills.


• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).


• Familiarity with county services and resources supporting youth and families.


• Experience with coalitions or grant writing desired but not required.


• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.


• Must pass a Wisconsin Caregiver background check and pre-employment drug screen.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to travel in-state and out-of-state as required.


• Frequent sitting, standing, walking, and presenting.


• Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds for event/program supplies.
