The selected candidate will be required to work on-site, full-time, at either Rancho Bernardo CA. or Sigonella Naval Air Base, Italy. \n\nRoles and responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following:\n\n * Maintain efficient operation of LAN/WAN/VPNs. \n\n * Plan, design, configure, and install network hardware in support of customer requirements.\n\n * Maintain technical expertise in all areas of networks and computer hardware and software interconnection and interfacing, such as routers, firewalls, switches, gateways, etc.\n\n * Propose solutions to management to ensure all communications requirements based on future needs and current usage, configuring such solutions to optimize cost savings.\n\n * Create and ensure that appropriate network documentation exists, including operational instructions.\n\n * Provide regular monitoring and network analysis regarding short- and long-range planning for in-house systems.\n\n * Perform troubleshooting analysis of network infrastructure and associated systems. \n\n * Install and configure Cisco routers, switches, and firewalls.\n\n * Implement and troubleshoot LAN technologies such as VLANs, Trunking (port tagging), Spanning-Tree, and Port Security.\n\n * Provide third-level support and troubleshooting of network problems. Periodically provide after-hours and weekend support.\n\n * Implement and troubleshoot WAN technologies such as EIGRP, BGP, OSPF, and telco circuits (T1, T3, OC3)\n\n * Interface regularly with customers and manage customer installation timelines and deliverables to help facilitate successful deployments.\n\n * Design and implement an enterprise network, and recommend data, voice, or video network investment decisions to management and customers based on results of independent assessment of current and future network performance, stability, and network management issues.\n\n * Report project status as required for all recurring and non-recurring efforts.\n\n\n\n\nBasic Qualifications:\n\n * Bachelor\u0027s degree in a STEM discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) with 5 years of related engineering experience; OR a Master\u2019s degree in STEM with 3 years of related engineering experience\n\n * Current active DoD Top Secret level security clearance (will need to move to a NATO COSMIC once hired). Clearance is required on Day 1 of employment; maintaining the required clearance(s) will be a condition of continued employment.\n\n * Experience installing \u0026 maintaining Cisco brand networking equipment for both LAN \u0026 WAN configurations, not limited to IOS updates, port security, VLANs, routing protocols, IP filtering, and event logging.\n\n * Current Security+CE, CASP, CISSP, or similar DoD 8570/ 8140 security certification, and the ability to maintain the required certification as a condition of continued employment. \n\n * CISCO CCNA 200-301 or Comptia Network + with the ability to achieve a CISCO CCNA 200-301 certification within 6 months.\n\n * Experience working on a team of IT professionals.\n\n * Ability to travel 50% plus.\n\n * Ability to lift equipment weighing up to 40 pounds.\n\n * Ability to work after hours and on weekends as needed.\n\n\n\n\nPreferred Qualifications:\n\n * Master\u2019s degree in STEM with 3 years of related engineering experience\n\n * Cisco CCNA 200-301 , ENCOR Core CCNP Exam 350-401, or CCIE certification.\n\n * Knowledge of environmental monitoring tools (e.g., HBSS, Solar Winds, Splunk).\n\n * Experience using network analysis tools (e.g., Wireshark, Opnet, etc.).\n\n * Experience with Certification \u0026 Accreditation process.\n\n * Experience giving technical presentations to technical and non-technical attendees.\n\n\n\n\nEmployees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
