Our employees are not only part of history, they\u0027re making history.\n\nNorthrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a Principal OR Sr. Principal Computer Systems Hardware Engineer to join the Compute Integrated Product Team (IPT) of the Deep Space Advanced Radar Capability (DARC) Site 2 program (DS2).\n\nAs a Computer Systems Hardware Engineer you will be a key member of the team responsible for designing and standing up of several high-performance computer environments required for DS2. This role will be reporting to the DS2 Compute IPT lead and work collaboratively with other functional disciplines to design, document and implement a computer system architecture baseline that will meet operational requirements for the system. The ideal candidate should have a strong foundational knowledge in the integration of computer system hardware components and infrastructure design (i.e., Rack Elevations, Engineering Drawings, Electrical Power, Heating \u0026 Cooling). Collaboration across a multi disciplined IPT to design, document, procure, integrate and test several high-performance computer environments is paramount. \n\nJob Duties Include: \n\n * Collaboratively define and document the computer system and support infrastructure design.\n\n * Develop engineering drawings and associated bill of materials.\n\n * Manage and control the HW engineering baseline (Change requests, redlines, document as built).\n\n * Determine HW component system specifications.\n\n * Determine Infrastructure requirements (Power, Heating and Cooling).\n\n * Develop integration plans and schedules.\n\n * Support procurement activities and collaborate with global supply chain.\n\n * Integrate and check out HW components.\n\n * Identify, analyze, and resolve program support deficiencies.\n\n * Develop and recommend corrective actions.\n\n\n\n\nBasic Qualifications\n\n * Principal: Bachelor\u0027s of Science Degree with a minimum of 5 years relevant experience; 3 years with a Master\u0027s; 1 years with a PhD.\n\n * Sr. Principal: Bachelor\u0027s of Science Degree with a minimum of 8 years relevant experience; 6 years with a Master\u0027s; 4 years with a PhD.\n\n * Active DoD Secret clearance at the time of application\n\n * Experience with requirements decomposition and derivation down to hardware subsystem level and hardware component level specifications\n\n * Familiar with engineering drawings and baseline management processes\n\n * Experienced with procurement process\n\n * Experience with cable management and various cable types typical for IT environments (Ethernet, Power, Fiber)\n\n * Ability to optimize HW component placement within environments considering airflow, cable management, tip hazards, and density\n\n * Familiar with integrating a broad set of commercial hardware system components (i.e., servers, switches, routers, network-attached (storage))\n\n * Experience with Atlassian tool sets (JIRA, Confluence)\n\n * Familiar with Model Based Systems Engineering principles\n\n * Ability to travel up to 10% domestically\n\n * Ability to travel internationally for up to 3 consecutive months during the deployment phase of the program\n\n\n\n\nPreferred Qualifications\n\n * Teamcenter or similar Product Lifecycle Management System experience\n\n * Ability to perform heating and cooling analysis associated with large IT environments\n\n * Ability to calculate total power demands and loads on power distribution circuits\n\n * Familiar with the use of RF test equipment such as spectrum analyzers\n\n * Experience with Model Based Systems Engineering tools such as CAMEO\n\n\n\n\nPrimary Level Salary Range: $94,200.00 - $141,200.00\n\nSecondary Level Salary Range: $129,300.00 - $193,900.00\n\nThe above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate\u0027s experience, education, skills and current market conditions.\n\nDepending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.\n\nThe application period for the job is estimated to be 20 days from the job posting date.
