As our Product Engineering Manager Tech, Work Center, you will lead engineering teams responsible for one of H&R Block's most critical associate-facing platforms. Work Center serves as the operational hub for tax office associates, enabling client engagement, return workflow management, document exchange, communications, task management, and service delivery across H&R Block's assisted tax ecosystem.
Reporting to the Director of Engineering, you will partner closely with Product, Design, Architecture, and business stakeholders to deliver capabilities that improve client experiences, increase associate effectiveness, and support enterprise-scale tax operations. You will be responsible for building high-performing teams, driving technical excellence, improving engineering effectiveness, and ensuring reliable delivery of strategic initiatives.

- Lead and develop a team of software engineers, technical leads, and engineering contributors while fostering a culture of accountability, learning, innovation, and continuous improvement.
- Partner with Product and Design to define, prioritize, and deliver features that improve client outcomes, tax professional productivity, and operational efficiency across assisted tax workflows.
- Drive engineering execution for initiatives involving workflow orchestration, task management, workload balancing, communications, document management, client engagement, and service lifecycle management.
- Ensure high-quality software delivery through strong engineering practices including automated testing, CI/CD, observability, monitoring, and operational readiness.
- Collaborate with Architecture teams to evolve Work Center's technical architecture and support future capabilities including intelligent workload management, automation, and analytics-driven experiences.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives that reduce technical debt, streamline developer experience, improve deployment reliability, and increase engineering effectiveness.
- Partner with stakeholders across Appointment Manager, MyBlock, EDM, Tax Preparation systems, Fulfillment Network, Data Science, and other enterprise platforms to deliver integrated solutions.
- Establish and maintain operating rhythms that improve delivery predictability, transparency, risk management, and cross-team alignment.
- Coach engineers and technical leaders through career development, performance management, succession planning, and growth opportunities.
- Support production operations, incident management, release readiness, and tax season stability efforts to ensure a reliable experience for associates and clients.
- Use metrics, experimentation, and customer feedback to guide technical and product decisions, measure outcomes, and continuously improve the platform.
- Collaborate with Product, Design, and Engineering partners to validate assumptions, prototype solutions, and rapidly iterate on new capabilities through a full-trio discovery model.
