Product Manager – Hard Surface Flooring & Cabinetry
Location: Houston, Texas (On-site)
Position Summary
Our client is seeking a Product Manager to lead the development and growth of their hard surface flooring categories—including hardwood, SPC, and laminate—as well as our cabinetry product line. In this role, you will own product strategy, coordinate sourcing, analyze market trends, support pricing initiatives, and drive new product launches that strengthen their position in the residential flooring and cabinetry market.
You will collaborate closely with sales, operations, sourcing, and marketing teams while serving as a key voice in determining which products are brought to market and how they are positioned for success. The ideal candidate combines flooring, cabinetry, or building products experience with strong analytical and organizational skills and thrives in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.
Key Responsibilities
Own and grow product lines across hardwood, SPC, laminate flooring, and cabinetry from strategy through execution.
Lead new product development from concept through launch, managing timelines, specifications, and cross-functional coordination.
Analyze market trends, competitive products, and customer feedback to guide product assortment and portfolio decisions.
Partner with sourcing and supply chain teams on product specifications, factory coordination, inventory planning, and launch timelines.
Support pricing strategy, margin objectives, and evaluate commercial performance across the product portfolio.
Collaborate with sales and marketing on product positioning, merchandising, displays, samples, and launch materials.
Deliver product training for internal teams, distributors, and customers.
Manage product lifecycle activities, including line extensions, SKU rationalization, and end-of-life planning.
Required Qualifications
3–5+ years of product management experience, preferably within flooring, cabinetry, or building products.
Strong knowledge of hardwood, SPC, and laminate flooring products; cabinetry experience is a plus.
Experience with product development, sourcing, and pricing strategy.
Excellent analytical, communication, and organizational skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
Bachelor's degree preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience within the residential flooring, cabinetry, or building products industry.
Familiarity with overseas sourcing, factory coordination, and import/inventory planning.
Experience supporting retail merchandising, displays, and sample programs.
Working knowledge of pricing, margin analysis, and product line profitability.
Success in the First 12 Months
Develop expertise across the flooring and cabinetry product portfolio, customer base, and competitive landscape.
Deliver a prioritized product roadmap and assortment strategy aligned with business objectives.
Successfully launch at least one new product or product line extension on time and within scope.
Identify and implement opportunities to improve profitability through sourcing, pricing, or SKU optimization.
Work Environment & Travel
Full-time, on-site position.
Approximately 15–20% travel, including factory visits, customer meetings, and industry trade shows.
Collaborative environment with regular interaction across sales, operations, sourcing, and marketing teams.
