What You'll Do

This position supports a critical national security mission by performing functional software design, testing and end-user support for a Material Requirements Planning (MRP) system within a nuclear weapons production facility. This role is essential for ensuring the MRP system effectively supports the unique operational needs of the facility, including functional business areas such as engineering, production planning, material planning, inventory management, quality, and cost.  Working as an integral member of an Agile software development team, the incumbent is responsible for translating complex business and supply chain needs into detailed functional specifications, user stories, and acceptance criteria. This role is pivotal in guiding the development of modifications that enhance the MRP system's capabilities and ensuring it aligns with the facility's operational requirements.


 


The incumbent will also be responsible for ensuring the quality and integrity of all system modifications. This involves developing and executing comprehensive test plans and scripts to validate that software changes meet functional requirements and quality standards. By collaborating closely with developers and end-users, this position ensures that the MRP system functions effectively and reliably, directly supporting the efficiency and accuracy of the weapons production facility's supply chain and manufacturing processes.

Collaborates with an Agile software development team to define, analyze, and document requirements for modifications to the Material Requirements Planning (MRP) system. Translates business needs into functional specifications, user stories, and acceptance criteria to guide development efforts for the weapons production facility's supply chain processes.



Develops and executes comprehensive test plans, test cases, and test scripts to validate modifications to the MRP system meet functional requirements and quality standards. Identifies, documents, and tracks software defects, and works with developers to ensure timely resolution before deployment.  Performs routine software testing for system patching and upgrades for maintenance of the MRP application and related systems.



Actively participates in all Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives. Provides ongoing subject matter expertise to development team members regarding the functionality and behavior of the MRP system.



Analyzes business operations (e.g., engineering, manufacturing, planning, supply chain, etc.) to gather requirements to develop logical processes for meeting the requirements. Develops new concepts, techniques and standards to improve software and production operations to facilitate mission delivery, enhance safety, security, quality, and generate cost efficiencies.



Provides ongoing support to end-users of the MRP system and assists in troubleshooting methodologies and troubleshooting steps based on expertise and in-depth knowledge of the software and business processes. Assigns security roles to end-users based on job duties and need-to-know. Develops documentation and video content for training end-users on rollout of software changes and new features.

Minimum Job Requirements


  • Bachelor's degree in engineering/science/information technology discipline: Minimum 2 years of relevant experience. Typical engineering/science/information technology experience ranging from 3 to 7 years. 

  • Master's degree in engineering/science/information technology discipline.

  • OR applicants without a bachelor's degree may be considered based on a combination of at least 10 years of completed education and/or relevant experience

Preferred Job Requirements


  • Problem-solving and analytical skills.

  • Familiarity with PeopleSoft and/or SAP.

  • Manufacturing systems (ERP/MRP) software experience or ability to develop in-depth understanding and knowledge of the software.

  • Familiarity with the usage and development of SQL queries.

  • Familiarity with Agile Project Management.

  • Familiarity with Azure.

  • Familiarity with Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES).

  • Familiarity with software testing/automated testing.

  • Experience/formal training in business analysis.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint.

  • Familiarity with ServiceNow.

  • Ability to work with personnel at all levels in the organization and across the plant.

Requires a Q clearance; however all qualified candidates will be considered regardless of their current clearance status. The ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy Q clearance is required.

 

Position may require entry into Materials Access Areas (MAA) and participation in the Human Reliability Program (HRP). If HRP is required, candidate must complete a counterintelligence-scope polygraph, pursuant to 10 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) 709. Medical requirements may apply.
