Production Manager

JOB SUMMARY

A Production Manager at Doble Engineering is responsible for scheduling and overseeing all production activities at Doble’s Accident, Maryland operation, including the management of several teams and Team Leads within the Production Department. The Production Manager will coordinate the purchasing of materials and have overall responsibility for meeting acknowledged deliveries and quality standards. This role will report directly to the Director of Operations.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

• Responsible for managing all activities related to production of goods

• Scheduling production staff members to ensure proper coverage


• Setting productivity goals for the production team


• Enforcing policies and regulations to ensure compliance with health and safety standards


• Allocating resources for the production department


• Support/Direct/Train in all activities and lean methodologies


• Resolving problems or delays in production


• Ensuring all products meet quality standards

• Communicate with sales staff, customers, and suppliers


• Hire, train, and evaluate workers


• Analyze production data


• Responsible to meet key performance indicators to ensure production targets are met


• Work closely with the Team Leads to plan and facilitate production activities to meet production and delivery commitments


• Provide feedback to engineering regarding design considerations on materials, material availability and costs, and manufacturing capabilities


• Establish and monitor procedures for maintaining efficient and high standards of manufacturing operations


• Give direction and support to the department


• Collaborate with department Team Leads to determine staffing requirements


• Conduct regular departmental and one-on-one staff meetings


• Automate existing processes and procedures


• Train, coach and evaluate Production team members


• Establish, implement, and reinforce new policies and procedures


• Manage facility maintenance and grounds care


• Report production status in bi-weekly scheduling and planning meetings


• Ensures hands-on coverage for all production work while resolving general problems


• Prepare and conduct staff performance reviews          

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION:

• BS in Engineering or Manufacturing, or equivalent combination of education and experienc

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

• 3-5 years of experience managing staff in a production or manufacturing setting


• Experience in an electrical manufacturing environment


• Experience working with an ERP and scheduling system

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE (Not Required):

• Electrical engineering experience a plus


• Knowledge of various industrial trades


• Knowledge of Lean

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

• Ability to manage a diverse staff of employees


• Ability to manage a complex schedule and keep product on track to meet goals


• Ability to guide and build a strong team environment across departments

While performing the duties of this job the employee is often required to stand, sit, use computers, read, write, type, use copy machines, file paperwork, use telephones, and utilize written and oral communication to interact with clients, co-workers, and customers. Actual base salary offered to the hired applicant will be determined based on their work location, level, qualifications, job related skills, as well as relevant education or training experience.
Salary Pay Range Minimum $76,831 - Midpoint $96,039
