Production Materials Lead

 Job Description

A Production Materials Lead ensures that the right materials, in the correct quantities, are available at the right time to keep production running smoothly. This role bridges warehouse, production teams, and SCM, managing the entire flow of materials from production start to finish (raw materials and subassemblies-WIP).

Key Responsibilities

· Production Material Lead ensures that the necessary supplies are available when and where they are needed. This requires clear communication with production teams, warehouse and SCM to manage schedules and resolve any potential shortages or delays. The position serves as a central point of contact for all production material-related inquiries.

· Through effective management of production needs by area and material availability, the Production Material Lead helps to maximize efficiency and productivity. 

· Ensures a seamless transition of materials, minimizing disruptions and supporting the timely completion of units and daily operations. This contributes to the overall smooth functioning of the organization.

· Supports the internal material flow of all production lines according to production schedule.

· Serve as the primary point of contact for production areas to manage material shortages and resolve bottle neck issues.

· Develop and maintain reports on material status, inventory levels, and production lines performance supplying material to others downstream.

· Support the optimization of the layout and organization of production storage areas to ensure efficient access and handling of materials.

· Collaborate with department Team Leads and Supervisors to plan material requirements for upcoming orders and production runs.

· Collaborate with production teams to identify material needs, prepare materials for the production floor, and ensure correct allocation and kitting is done by the corresponding area.

· Support resolving issues related to shortages, delays, quality problems, or delivery discrepancies between production lines.

· Monitor and maintain accurate stock levels of Non-BOM components and supplies; conduct regular audits and reconcile discrepancies.

· Main point of contact to summarize material requirements to communicate to SCM to place purchase orders and replenish Non-BOM or indirect materials.

· Support VMI infrastructure by ensuring the proper use of the Kanban system.

Environment/Physical Requirements

The ideal candidate must be able to complete all physical requirements of the job with or without reasonable accommodation. 

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand/walk for extended periods. 
• Periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Must be able to access and navigate each department in the Office and Production Floor.
• Work includes warehouse and production floor environments.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

Depending on workload there may be occasionally longer days along with weekends as needed. Employees are expected to work the necessary hours to complete all tasks on time and to a satisfactory standard.
