The Production Planner is responsible for coordinating and managing production schedules to ensure customer requirements are met while maximizing manufacturing efficiency. This role serves as a key link between Sales, Operations, Purchasing, Manufacturing, and Quality, balancing customer demand with available labor, machine capacity, materials, and operational priorities.
The Production Planner develops and maintains production schedules, monitors workflow, and proactively identifies and resolves potential constraints that could impact production and delivery performance. The ideal candidate is highly organized, analytical, customer-focused, and thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Develop, maintain, and communicate production schedules for machining, fabrication, welding, assembly, and related manufacturing operations.
Coordinate production priorities to ensure on-time delivery and efficient utilization of labor, equipment, materials, and other resources.
Monitor production capacity, workload, and material availability to identify and address scheduling constraints.
Collaborate with Sales, Estimating, Purchasing, Quality, and Operations to align production plans with customer requirements and business objectives.
Track production progress and adjust schedules in response to changing priorities, resource availability, and customer demand.
Maintain accurate production planning and scheduling data within the company's ERP system.
Analyze production performance and recommend improvements to scheduling efficiency, workflow, throughput, and resource utilization.
Support inventory planning and material readiness to minimize production delays and disruptions.
Communicate schedule changes, production risks, and delivery concerns to internal stakeholders.
Assist in developing production planning processes, reporting tools, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Utilize Microsoft Office Suite to create reports, dashboards, spreadsheets, and operational analyses that support decision-making.
Promote a collaborative, customer-focused approach to production planning and execution.
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Business, Manufacturing, Engineering, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.
Experience in production planning, scheduling, manufacturing coordination, operations, or a related role.
Strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and time-management skills.
Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint.
Ability to quickly learn and effectively utilize ERP or manufacturing software systems.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Experience using ERP, MRP, or production scheduling software.
Understanding of machining, fabrication, welding, assembly, or general manufacturing processes.
Knowledge of capacity planning, inventory management, production control, and supply chain principles.
Experience supporting Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, or operational excellence initiatives.
