Summary


The Scheduler/Production Coordinator is responsible for creating a schedule and coordinating the production departments, purchasing, and manning requirements to accomplish that schedule. The Scheduler/Production Coordinator will also have ultimate responsibility for the maintenance of the production schedule.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities


Production Scheduling & Planning: Individual is responsible for developing, maintaining, and communicating production schedules for multiple manufacturing departments. Monitor production progress and identify schedule delays or changes. Manage production priorities based on available materials and manufacturing capacity.


Customer & Order Management:  Individual is responsible to ensure that all customer requests are responded to as quickly as possible. Actively communicates production status, material related delays, and delivery updates to customers. Expedites customer requests/complaints to the appropriate functions to be analyzed and communicated solutions back to the customer either directly or through the sales group.


Shipment & Delivery Adherence: Work with company drivers to ensure accurate delivery addresses and customer contact information are provided for scheduled deliveries. Communicate with customers for out-of-state shipments to confirm they have the appropriate equipment and resources to safely offload the equipment upon delivery. 


Production Documentation & Order Management: Review engineering drawings and prepare production packets for various manufacturing departments. Maintain spreadsheets and other records used to track departmental movement of orders. Inform the affected departments of any changes that may arise to orders. Coordinate with Engineering and other departments to resolve discrepancies that may impact production.


Materials & Inventory Coordination: Monitor material availability and identify missing or delayed materials that may impact production schedules. Work with Purchasing and other departments to resolve material shortages and adjust production schedules as necessary. Communicate material related delays and schedule changes to affected departments and customers.


Major responsibilities: Manage schedule deviations and deficiencies; incorporate new and change orders into the current production plan; update production schedules; address shipping and delivery concerns; respond to customer requests and concerns; monitor material availability and shortages; coordinate customer information and requirements with the sales order backlog; and maintain alignment between the MRP, manning plan, and all production schedules.


Education and/or Experience



  • Advanced knowledge of the entire process flow from raw material through production to customer delivery

  • Knowledge of customer requirements

  • Basic math skills

  • Experienced with inventory controls

  • Proficient PC and Microsoft Office skills – Excel, Word, e-mail

  • Self-motivated and self-directed with strong work ethic

  • Ability to multi-task and work at a fast pace


Computer Skills


Demonstrated proficiency with Excel which tracks the departmental movement of work orders.


Experience in Sage software a plus.
