Job Description - Professor


The Archdiocese of St. Louis strives to teach and share our faith, serve others, and foster unity throughout the St. Louis area.  Once a part of Kenrick-Glennon Seminary's campus, the Cardinal Rigali Center in Shrewsbury, MO is today the headquarters and curia (governing body) for the Archdiocese of St. Louis.


Job Summary

The “Lecturer in Ancient Languages” position works on three fronts:



  1. Offering semester long classes in Latin and Greek (and occasionally in Hebrew);

  2. Tutoring Cardinal Glennon College students in their SLU classes;

  3. Working as a writing tutor for all seminarians.

Job Responsibilities

 


Duties and Responsibilities:



  1. Assist with providing Latin I and II classes.

  2. Provide Greek I and II classes.

  3. Offer Hebrew classes as needed.

  4. Work with Cardinal Glennon College freshmen and sophomores (Propaedeutic I & II) as a tutor for their SLU classes.

  5. Provide writing assistance to all Kenrick-Glennon seminarians.

  6. May also tutor philosophy students (Discipleship I & II) as needed.

Job Requirements


  1. Doctorate in Philosophy or Theology, with special emphasis in use of ancient languages; OR Master’s Degree in Ancient Languages.

  2. Experience and training in various methods of teaching languages preferred.

  3. Experience with writing – especially publications in philosophy or theology.

  5. Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work well with others is essential.


 


Relationships Requirements:



  1. Must be willing to take direction from the Academic Dean and President-Rector.

  2. Positive in all interactions with faculty, staff, seminarians and visitors to the facilities is essential.
