Description

The Program Coordinator I is responsible for providing administrative, operational and programmatic support services within the Environmental Health & Safety Department.  The position will provide a specific service or carry out specific activities as a separate entity or as a component program within the department.  The primary objective of this position is to manage the Health System’s compliance with the regulatory requirements relative to the use of respirators. The candidate will be responsible for the annual fit testing of all personnel at all Health System and offsite locations.  The candidate will be responsible for managing all records related to the program and will be a resource on the specific requirements established by OSHA.



Responsibilities
  1. Maintains liaison with staff in other departments to coordinate program activities and training; to accomplish program objectives; and to ensure cooperative efforts are enhanced and available resources are utilized. 
  2. Assists in monitoring and evaluating program effectiveness; demonstrates continuous efforts to improve support operations and systems, to streamline work processes and to increase the effectiveness and efficiency of the program. 
  3. Provides assistance to staff in assigned areas to ensure program objectives are accomplished. 
  4. Assists in administering program procedures and systems.  May ensure information is disseminated to staff regarding program and Mount Sinai Health System’s policies and procedures. 
  5. Assists in the planning, coordination and implementation of seminars, conferences and workshops.  Recommends new ideas and concepts for program themes, materials and resources to supplement, expand or replace existing program components. 
  6. Develop a thorough understanding of OSHA standard 1910.134 Respiratory Protection
  7. Develop an understanding of CDC/JC/DOH/OSHA requirements for respirator use relative to TB, H1N1, and other airborne diseases
  8. Ensure compliance with above regulations and “hierarchy of controls”
  9. Perform scheduling and  annual fit testing for all personnel at the Health System and offsite locations 
  10. Maintenance of all fit testing equipment and supplies
  11. Managing all respiratory protection program elements including recordkeeping
  12. Coordinate large-scale fit testing events with EH&S, Infection Control, Employee Health Services, and others
  13. Performs additional assignments as required by operating needs of the company or as directed by management, including but not exclusive to: ensuring compliance with regulatory agencies; involvement in disaster response and planning.

 

 

 

 

 

 



Qualifications

Minimum Education

Some college / technical schooling preferred or an equivalent combination of education and/or work experience may substitute for the education.  On the job training will be key.

 

Compensation Statement

The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides salary ranges that comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $66,482.07 - $75,000.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and operational need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
