Job Title - Program Director (Licensed Nurse Practitioner) Solid Tumor Research Nursing - Mount Sinai Hospital - Full Time - Day

The Program Director for Solid Tumor Research Nursing is a credentialed individual responsible for daily operations of all solid tumor research nursing teams and related clinical services for the Tisch Cancer Center of the Mount Sinai Health System. This person must have expert knowledge of cancer as a disease process, cancer treatment modalities, and the process of conducting clinical research. She/he is responsible for clinical operations and integrity, compliance, and knowledge of relevant regulatory requirements and institutional policies and procedures. She/he is also expected to function as a research NP in her/his designated disease area. This position administratively reports to the Senior Director for Cancer Clinical Research and clinically reports to the Associate Director of Clinical Research Operations.

• Oversees day-to-day management of the solid tumor clinical research nursing teams.  Ensures integration of other areas as they relate to clinical services, including but not limited to Finance, Legal Affairs, Contracts, Compliance, IT, Facilities, and Human Resources/Labor Relations, etc.
• Supervises licensed staff to ensure protocol compliance, accurate data collection, sample acquisition, and all nursing related study conduct.
• Provides exemplary patient care while ensuring protocols are conducted in a high-quality manner and clinical research documentation is inspection ready.
• Oversees coordination of study enrollments, databases/case loads of patients, protocol treatments, and follow-up care for patients participating in clinical trials.
• Guides nursing teams responsible for ensuring protocol adherence and accurate source data. Implements standards for research protocols in compliance with regulatory, institutional, and external agencies.
• Collaborates with attending physicians to identify and maintain best practices for recruiting patients eligible for clinical trial. Provides oversight for scheduling of patient laboratory and radiologic assessments, admissions, and clinic visits. Supports investigators and their teams with the informed consent process and documentation.
• Assures the primary nursing staff understands how to administer investigational agents per specifications of the protocol.
• Ensures accurate and timely research documentation and works with ancillary departments (e.g., infusion, radiology, etc.) to ensure research is integrated into standard clinical operations.
• Facilitates in/external monitoring and auditing; leads quality improvement and process improvement projects.
• Develops and implements ongoing performance/process improvement programming. Collaborates with other members of the health care team in the development, implementation, and ongoing review of policies, procedures, and standards of care for designated patient populations. 
• Initiates and coordinates administrative and clinical aspects of program development, including new clinics and operations, new organizational structures, space allocation, access improvements, etc.
• Facilitates inter-programmatic collaboration between all Mount Sinai Health System campus programs, divisions, departments, services and units. 
• Reviews and identifies ongoing educational staff development needs. Oversees the development and implementation of effective educational orientation programs. 
• May oversee Electronic Information Systems coordination and management. 
• Develops (independently or in conjunction with other department professionals and leadership) and maintains management information reporting for service areas, including measures of patient volume, acuity, demographics, service utilization, and productivity. 
• Serves as direct liaison with medical and hospital nursing leadership on operational issues. 
• Promotes and maintains a safe environment and an interdisciplinary approach in quality patient care delivery.
• Schedules, assigns and evaluates the work of reporting subordinates. 
• Other duties as assigned

• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing is required. Master’s Degree preferred; or Advanced Oncology Certified Nurse Practitioner (AOCNP).

• At least 5 years of directly related clinical research experience with additional supervisory experience.

• New York State License with current registration as a registered professional nurse. Certification in specialty area preferred.

• Progressive managerial and clinical job-related experience specific to area of responsibilities.

Compensation Statement

The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides salary ranges that comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $132,400.32 - $209,622.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and operational need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
