KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Directs the strategic planning, development and implementation of a large and complex program or of several smaller programs.
  • Plans, administers and monitors program budgets.
  • Develops short and long term goals and objectives.
  • Oversees related special projects.
  • May represent the program in various national and international settings.
  • May manage the solicitation of funding from foundation, corporate, individual and governmental donors.
  • Collaborates with and seeks the support of representatives from other organizations.
  • Establishes and administers policies and procedures.
  • Supervises staff.
  • Performs related responsibilities as required.

ADDITIONAL JOB DETAILS:

 

The labs of Dr. Anke Huels and Dr. Donghai Liang are looking for an experienced program director to manage a funded NIH research project on air pollution exposure and how it affects dementia risk. The Huels Lab conducts research in the fields of environmental and molecular epidemiology of Alzheimer's disease, with a particular focus on air pollution. Dr. Liang currently leads the Environmental Metabolomics and Exposomics Research Group at Emory (EMERGE), which focuses on incorporating high throughput omics approaches to measure multi-dimensional exposures and investigate the molecular mechanisms accounting for the complex health responses to ubiquitous environmental mixtures.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in a discipline related to program work and seven years of related experience which includes two years at a management level, OR an equivalent combination of education, experience, and training.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • PhD and relevant postdoc training in omics science.
  • Proven experience in project management, particularly with large-scale research projects of research centers.
  • Experience working with grant management, preferably NIH.
  • Expertise in using project management software, e.g., MS Project.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Experience working in interdisciplinary teams.
  • Experience managing projects related to environmental health or neurodegenerative diseases.
  • Background in public health or related field.

 

NOTE: This role will be granted the opportunity to work from home regularly but must be able to commute to Emory University on a flexible weekly schedule based upon business needs.  Schedule is based on agreed upon guidelines of department. This role requires residency in the state of GA. Emory reserves the right to change remote work status with notice to employee.
