Project Accountant

RWE Design Build is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Project Accountant to support construction project accounting, day-to-day accounting operations, and financial reporting. This role will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, supporting the month-end close process, and partnering with project managers and internal teams to ensure financial integrity across construction projects and company operations.

The ideal candidate is organized, analytical, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment. This individual should be able to manage project-related accounting responsibilities independently while collaborating effectively with project management, operations, and accounting teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Support construction project-based accounting activities, including preparation of monthly construction draws.
  
• Prepare and analyze financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and profit & loss reports.
  
• Maintain general ledger, accounts payable files, and other accounting records.
  
• Prepare, review, and post journal entries in a timely and accurate manner.
  
• Perform account reconciliations (bank, payroll, customer, and vendor accounts) on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis. Post entries daily.
  
• Assist with budgeting and forecasting activities.
  
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and other rules and regulations, including internal policies and procedures.
  
• Partner with internal teams to resolve discrepancies and support financial-related inquiries, including collections.
  
• Provide financial analysis and research at the account, entity, division, department, and customer level. 
  
• Communicate financial insights and results to leadership and key stakeholders.
  

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  
• 1–3 years of accounting experience preferred
  
• Strong understanding of general and construction accounting principles and financial reporting
  
• Experience with account reconciliations and journal entries
  
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting systems
