Project Engineer Land Development / Site Civil Engineering

Job Overview

We are hiring a Project Engineer with strong land development and site civil engineering experience to support the design and delivery of development projects. This role focuses on producing precise engineering drawings and working closely with surveyors and construction teams to support real-world site execution. Projects include transforming raw land into buildable sites with roads, grading, drainage systems, and utility layouts.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop detailed civil engineering drawings for land development projects (grading, drainage, utilities, roadways, and site layout plans)
• Support surveyors and construction teams with field layout, stakeout information, and design clarification
• Translate engineering concepts into accurate, construction-ready plan sets
• Update drawings based on field conditions and as-built feedback
• Ensure accuracy, consistency, and constructability across all design deliverables
• Collaborate across engineering, surveying, and field construction teams throughout project phases

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in land development or site civil engineering
• Hands-on experience using AutoCAD for land development design and drafting
• Proven experience producing construction-ready civil engineering drawings (grading, drainage, utilities, roadway/site plans)
• Direct experience supporting survey crews and construction layout activities
• Strong understanding of land development workflows and site civil engineering principles

Technical Skills

• AutoCAD (intermediate/working proficiency) for civil/site drafting and plan production
• Civil engineering CAD workflows for land development projects
• Production of detailed engineering drawings for construction use

Preferred Experience

• Background in Civil Engineering, Site Development, Municipal Engineering, Utility Design, or Surveying support
• Experience in consulting or construction-focused land development projects
• Exposure to the full project lifecycle: design, permitting support, and construction assistance

Work Environment & Location

• On-site role in Lake Hopatcong, NJ (07849)
• Collaboration with survey and construction teams in both office and field settings
• Candidates should be comfortable with active site involvement
• Local candidates strongly preferred (30–45 minute commute ideal; up to 60 minutes considered for strong matches)
