We are looking for a Project Geoscientist to conduct work that is inputted into projects with the potential to deliver ore bodies or project advancement capable of becoming large, low-cost, long-life mines, to achieve quality area selection, rapid and efficient advancement of those projects.

Reporting to the Principal Geoscientist, you will:

• Lead straightforward projects or elements of larger projects within a region or business unit.

• Apply techniques and technologies to support project prioritization and advancement.

• Present results and recommendations to management for decision-making.

• Provide technical support to specific components of project work.

• Offer first-line supervision and coach less experienced staff on logistical and technical aspects.

• Undertake reporting on project activities, progress, issues, and outcomes.

• Analyze performance information and recommend improvements to technical aspects of delivery.

What you’ll bring

• A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team

• Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Geoscience, or related discipline.

• 4–6 years of experience in exploration or project work.

• Competence in applying geoscientific techniques and technologies.

• Ability to lead small projects and provide technical guidance.

• Strong organizational and reporting skills.

• Familiarity with geological software and data management tools.

• Effective communication and collaboration skills.

Rio Tinto's Exploration (RTX) group seeks to create value for the business by discovering or acquiring new mineral resources. Organized into three regional teams (Americas, Australasia, Africa-Europe), the Exploration group provides both a global reach and a local presence across a range of commodities including bauxite, copper, iron ore and lithium.
