Summary:
We’re looking for a Project Manager to lead a software engineering team through a large-scale platform modernization. The project consolidates a suite of APIs and backend data ingest processes into a centralized, containerized platform built on OpenShift, with a focus on resiliency, maintainability, security, and scalability. Alongside the core platform work, the team is building a new data visualization application and enhancing two existing internal applications. This is a long-term contract (roughly 18 months) in which you’ll own delivery end to end, serving as both project manager and Scrum Master.

The project consolidates a suite of APIs and backend data ingest processes into a centralized, containerized platform built on OpenShift, with a focus on resiliency, maintainability, security, and scalability. Alongside the core platform work, the team is building a new data visualization application and enhancing two existing internal applications. This is a long-term contract (roughly 18 months) in which you’ll own delivery end to end, serving as both project manager and Scrum Master.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as Scrum Master for an Agile development team
- Act as the primary point of contact for client stakeholders, delivering consistent status reporting, milestones, and metrics tailored to each audience
- Develop and maintain comprehensive project plans covering scope, schedule, milestones, dependencies, resources, and risk management
- Track and forecast project budgets and schedules, and flag variances early
- Support product backlog development and manage delivery activities in Azure DevOps
- Produce sprint metrics and reporting, including velocity and burndown
- Lead core team and sponsor meetings, and make recommendations on change requests
- Identify, evaluate, and document proposed changes to scope, schedule, budget, or resources through established change-management processes
- Maintain a risk, issue, action, and decision (RAID) log with owners, target dates, and status
- Manage dependencies and coordination across related projects
- Provide technical guidance to the project team and drive problem resolution
- Prepare governance materials, including agendas, executive updates, decision records, and change-request documentation
- Lead the transition to production support and deliver a final project closure report
Required Skills
- 5+ years of experience as a Project Manager using Agile/Scrum methodologies
- 5+ years leading IT projects or teams, including people management and budget development and monitoring
- Experience delivering integrations with third-party solutions
- Proficiency in MS Project, PowerPoint, and SharePoint
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Bonus Skills
- Proficiency in Azure DevOps for Scrum management
- Experience with customer experience (CX) projects
- Agile or Scrum Master certification (CSM, PSM, SAFe, etc.)
- Experience managing API, platform modernization, or containerization (OpenShift/Kubernetes) initiatives
$75 - $80 an hour
