Project Scheduler at Shiel Sexton

The Project Scheduler is responsible for creating proposals and construction schedules under the direction of the Corporate Scheduling Manager.

Additional responsibilities include:

• The Project Scheduler is responsible for working closely with technical experts, project leads and project managers in planning, creating, and managing project schedules.


• Determine best process control, procurement, subcontracting, risk management, assignment coordination, interaction with customers, and activity duration.


• Work closely with others in linking critical activities across multiple projects.


• Ensure an open communication system is available where all stakeholders are informed about changes to established schedules.


• Timely and accurate processing of schedule updates.


• Analyze the impact and extent of owner and subcontractor delays and major schedule changes.


• Create and publish high level integrated master schedules in accordance with the requirements or needs of the necessary stakeholders.


• Suggest corrective actions to keep the project on scope, budget, and time.


• Plan and create new schedule delays and summary reports.


• Perform project progress monitoring duties, as well as identifying critical activities, and reviewing forecasts with progress achieved to date.


• Provides training on software, critical path methodology, and all other aspects of scheduling.


• Assists project teams in schedule creation.


• Is involved in all major schedule updates.


• Monitors scheduling progress against corporate goals.


• Creates proposal schedules.


• Other responsibilities as assigned. 

Skills/Qualifications:

• Four-year construction related degree or equivalent experience;


• One to three years corporate scheduling experience;


• Thorough knowledge of diversified schedule engineering systems, principles and practices;


• Knowledge of CPM scheduling and related software;


• Excellent verbal and written communication skills; Interpersonal and coaching skills required


• Good analytical and planning skills.


• Proficiency in the use of project scheduling software such as Asta, Primavera P6 and MS Project


• Knowledge of the current state of the CPM scheduling history, industry standards, practices, norms, and legal positions.


• Physical presence in the office during work hours for impromptu meetings and access to information/data is necessary for the position


• Must be able to sit without interruptions for up to 2 hours. May be required to sit 6-8 hours per day.


• Travel required (25%), with occasional overnight travel.
