JOB SUMMARY
The Protection and Control (P&C) Field Services manager is responsible for the P&C groups located throughout the Alabama Power Company service territory. There are six regional field groups that perform commissioning and maintenance on substation protection and control equipment and one support group that provides guidance, training, and monitoring of compliance and budget for the entire organization. The responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:
- Provide overall leadership and direction to the P&C Field Services organization

- Ensure compliance with all applicable NERC requirements (PRC-005, FAC-008, etc.)
- Ensure Human Performance tools and work practices are fully utilized to achieve operational excellence
- Ensure all responsible capital and maintenance work plans are completed
- Coordinate work planning with Design, PCA, Construction, TMC, and Operations groups to promote excellence
- Monitor organizational training needs and ensure knowledge transfer supports organization mission
- Ensure all employees receive constructive performance and developmental feedback
- Provide planning and oversight of P&C O&M budget
- Ensure top level customer service is provided to internal and external customers
- Ensure appropriate regional responses to system operations and outages to aid the restoration process
- Serve as APC ambassador on multiple cross-opco committees on P&C related issues
JOB REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s Engineering Degree required; Electrical preferred
- Active Alabama Professional Engineers (PE) License highly preferred
- Extensive knowledge of system protection and operations
- Significant P&C field test work experience preferred; minimum 7 years
- 3 years as a supervisor or manager experience preferred
- Significant experience in substation design, construction, maintenance, or operations preferred

- Must be willing to travel routinely to dispersed group offices throughout the state
- Must live in or be willing to relocate to a commutable distance of the Hueytown, AL office location
