Position Title: Public Safety Officer.
Department: Public Safety.
Classification: Non-Exempt.
FTE: 1.0.
Work Schedule: Hours to be worked 9:00PM - 7:00AM.
Shift: Eight (8) week cycle consisting of 4 days on, 4 days off, 4 days on, 3 days off, 5 days on, 3 days off (x3), 5 days on, 4 days off, 4 days on, 3 days off; travel up to 1% of work schedule, which includes local (Twin Cities metro area) and national travel; overnight trips average 1 trip per year.
Work Location: On Campus.
Hourly Rate: $27 - $31.
Essential Job Duties:
Maintain academic and residence hall building security and respond to/investigate reported incidents/complaints.
Respond to all medical and property related emergencies and contact off-campus emergency resources as appropriate.
Respond to and conduct initial investigations of all criminal incidents or accidents reported or encountered.
Complete detailed reports on incidents that occur on college property (as appropriate).
Respond to and investigate all intrusion or fire alarms reported.
Patrol and monitor campus property.
Confront and resolve all criminal or unacceptable behavior encountered.
Patrol parking lots to prevent and detect criminal behavior.
Enforce parking regulations and issue parking citations when appropriate.
Document all motor vehicle accidents and assist with traffic direction.
Assist all college departments and law enforcement agencies.
Provide assistance to the campus community by responding to calls for service to include building lockouts, financial deposits and vehicle assists.
Assist local, state and federal law enforcement agencies as requested.
Provide transportation to the Northfield Emergency Department for minor injuries.
Provide transportation on campus for personal safety reasons.
Work overtime or other shifts in an emergency to provide adequate coverage.
Participate in criminal court proceedings as requested.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Public Safety (or designee).

Probation:
This position is subject to a 60-day probationary period. This period will completely encompass the Field Training (FTO) program as well as initial time as a solo officer. Officers within their 60-day probationary period can be dismissed from employment if they fail to meet training and/or department guidelines at the discretion of the Director.
Schedule Disclaimer:
This position may require you to report early, stay late or work different shifts depending on staffing levels and department needs and require you to perform all essential job functions whenever needed including during campus emergencies. In addition, known campus events (ie Move-In Day, Graduation, Alumni Weekend and others) will require personnel to work additional hours potentially outside regularly scheduled shifts at the discretion of the Director or designee.
