About the Job:

PURPOSE STATEMENT:

Under the supervision of the Director of Nursing or Nurse Manager, the Qualified Medication Assistant performs various client care activities and related non-professional services necessary in caring for the needs of clients including administration of medication as allowed.

Roles and Responsibilities:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

· Prepares, administers and documents medications following accepted practices as directed.

· Monitors client’s vital signs as indicated; observes clients for expected actions; observes reportable, suspected, and adverse reactions to medications administered.

· Prepares verbal and written reports related to successful or unsuccessful medication administration changes in client condition.

· Reports all unusual or unexpected client conditions and reactions to supervisor.

· Responds to emergency call alerts in accordance with facility policies.

· Assists clients with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, changing of bed linens, and positioning in and out of bed, chair, etc.

· Assists with dietary, housekeeping, laundry and activity departmental activities as assigned.

· Assists with ongoing treatment plans as directed.

· Receives report and assignment when coming on duty and gives report on assigned clients when going off duty.

· Works with training CNA/QMA during On-Duty Orientation.

· Accepts changes in duty and assignment.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

· High School Diploma or GED required.

· Previous QMA experience is preferred.

LICENSES/DESIGNATIONS/CERTIFICATIONS:

· Current QMA licensure required.

· CPR certification and de-escalation training required (training available upon hire and offered by facility).

· First aid may be required based on state or facility requirements.

SUPERVISORY REQUIREMENTS:

This is an Individual Contributor.
