Job Description - Quality Specialist

We are seeking a Quality Specialist to join our Mosinee, WI team! The Quality Specialist is responsible for supporting safety, quality, operational, human development, and cost-efficiency projects in a manner that meets or exceeds performance and budget expectations. The Quality Specialist will provide technical support for the paper machine process lines and other facility support processes which include, building upon existing skills, technical, quality, and interpersonal, while developing additional competencies as necessary. This position will be working closely with customers on providing necessary testing data to ensure all critical properties meet expectations.


 


Key Responsibilities



  • Safety/Environment – Assist/lead in promoting safety culture; communicate safety to Paper Test Lab operations

  • Quality – Review daily quality data; Supervise paper test lab; Maintain and calibrate all lab testing equipment; Provide customer samples to sales as requested; Analyze data to improve customer first-time-right; Write training documents for paper test lab; Provide technical support for Sales and Customers; Lead Continuous Improvement projects

  • Productivity – Support paper and pulp mill to optimize acceptance, availability and speed

  • Human Development – Support the training of all Paper Test Lab employees and support daily, fill in for other Quality positions as necessary

  • Cost – Support production in optimization chemical usage through grade design/review.

  • Supporting food safety initiatives among familiarization in regulatory requirements for our customers

  • Must follow Ahlstrom’s manufacturing, hygiene, and food safety processes and procedures, as applicable to the position’s areas of responsibility, in order to meet and maintain the safety, quality, and regulatory compliance requirements for each grade of paper

Qualifications



  • Preferred 3-5 years of paper expereince (technical, quality, or production)



  • Associates degree in related field or equivalent work experience

  • Ability to travel, work weekends, holidays and overtime as needed

  • Applicants should be well organized, responsible, and have the ability to supervise in a union environment

Work Schedule and Location 



  • Location: 100 Main St, Mosinee, WI (On-Site) 



  • Schedule: Monday – Friday and must be available for on-call duties, including weekends, and flexible to work outside of regular hours when required.
