Job Description - Quality Technician

Quality Technician | Automotive Tier 1 Supplier | Howell, MI | On-site

Salary: Up to $80,000 per year
Location: Howell, Michigan (on-site)
Type: Full-time, direct hire

The Opportunity

A growing automotive Tier 1 supplier is hiring a Quality Technician for its Howell, Michigan plant. The site is small, with around 30 people, and it is growing fast. New business is arriving and more takeover business is still to be awarded.

That means this is not a "check parts and fill in sheets" role. You will be hands-on with launches, PPAPs and customer quality, and you will help shape how quality runs as the plant scales. If you are a strong Quality Technician ready to take on more ownership, or a junior Quality Engineer who likes being close to the shop floor, this is a genuine step up.

What You'll Do

  • Support APQP from concept through launch, working with the project team
  • Help build and maintain PFMEAs and Control Plans
  • Run MSA (Gage R&R) and process capability studies
  • Prepare and manage PPAP submissions and customer approvals
  • Support Run-at-Rate and launch readiness
  • Take part in feasibility and risk reviews
  • Lead problem solving on internal and customer concerns (8D, 5 Why)
  • Act as a point of contact between the plant, suppliers and customers
  • Track quality metrics and drive improvements on the floor
  • Capture lessons learned and feed them into new programs

What You Bring

  • 5+ years of quality experience in automotive manufacturing at a Tier 1 or Tier 2 supplier or an OEM
  • Hands-on experience with APQP, PPAP, PFMEA, MSA and Control Plans
  • Working knowledge of GM, Ford and/or Stellantis customer-specific requirements
  • Comfort with SAP and strong MS Office skills, especially Excel
  • Clear communication, and confidence dealing with customers and suppliers
  • A degree in Engineering or a technical field is a plus, but strong hands-on experience counts

Nice to Have

  • Experience supporting product launches and getting PPAPs approved
  • CMM, gauging or metrology experience
  • IATF 16949 internal auditor training
  • Experience running or contributing to cross-functional workshops

Why Apply

  • Small plant, so your work is visible and your input matters
  • Real growth ahead, with room to grow your role alongside the site
  • Direct hire with a stable Tier 1 supplier
  • Salary up to $80,000
