Pay: $28.26–$43.80 per hour, based on experience and qualifications
Schedule: Full-time | Eight-hour variable shifts
Additional Scheduling: On-call, weekends, holidays, and alternate shifts may be required
Employment Type: Permanent, Direct-Hire Position

Position Summary

A hospital-based radiology department in Lewes, Delaware, is seeking a Radiologic Technologist to perform high-quality diagnostic imaging examinations while maintaining exceptional patient-care and radiation-safety standards.

The ideal candidate understands radiographic principles, anatomy, pathology, positioning, and imaging techniques and can adapt quickly when clinical or emergency conditions affect an examination.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform diagnostic radiographic examinations according to established department protocols.
  • Select appropriate positioning and imaging techniques based on the requested examination and the patient's condition.
  • Obtain relevant clinical history and verify examination orders before beginning procedures.
  • Explain procedures to patients and their families, answer questions, and help reduce anxiety.
  • Confirm patient identity and ensure images and records are accurately labeled.
  • Evaluate examinations for technical quality and correct errors when identified.
  • Recognize clinical or emergency conditions that may interfere with an examination and take appropriate action.
  • Follow ALARA principles and use proper collimation, shielding, and radiation-protection practices.
  • Maintain patient safety through appropriate monitoring, positioning, side-rail use, and equipment safeguards.
  • Operate radiographic and related imaging equipment according to manufacturer specifications.
  • Track patients and document procedures accurately within departmental systems.
  • Report and document unsafe, unusual, or adverse conditions.
  • Maintain clean, orderly, and fully stocked imaging rooms.
  • Monitor supplies and remove expired or soon-to-expire items from patient-care areas.
  • Participate in departmental meetings, training, in-services, and performance-improvement initiatives.
  • Assist with the education and training of radiography students when needed.
  • Remain current on technological developments and changes in radiologic imaging.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in Radiologic Technology or a related field.
  • Active Delaware professional license.
  • Active Delaware radiation license.
  • Current Basic Life Support certification.
  • Strong understanding of radiographic principles, anatomy, pathology, positioning, and radiation safety.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Ability to work variable eight-hour shifts.
  • Ability to participate in on-call, weekend, holiday, and alternate-shift coverage when required.
  • Strong communication, patient-care, and critical-thinking skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Recent Radiologic Technologist experience in a hospital setting.
  • Experience working with emergency, inpatient, and outpatient populations.
  • Experience using radiology information systems and digital imaging technology.
  • Previous experience assisting with the clinical education of radiography students.
