Radiology Manager (Non-Ionizing) - Ultrasound

We're searching for a Manager of Radiology (Non-Ionizing), someone who's ready to be part of the best ranked children's hospital in Texas, and among the best in the nation. In this position, you'll lead the imaging sections of the Radiology department by ensuring that staff have sufficient resources, training, and leadership to provide the finest possible pediatric services in a cost-effective manner. You'll standardize workflows, practices, procedures, and quality standards across the enterprise, promote positive inter- and intra-departmental communications, and ensure that patient care is family centered and developmentally appropriate for the ages of patients served.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

• Manages the daily operations of their designated section(s) Computerized Tomography (CT), Interventional Radiology, Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), Rad/Fluoro, Ultrasound, Women's Radiology, and Nuclear Radiology/PET by providing direction, leadership, resources and staff development to the employees, daily
• Supervises routine and specialized examinations, assigns tasks, and inspects completed work to ensure compliance with department standards
• Monitors inventory of department supplies daily and ensures that established stock levels are met and supplies replenished as necessary, keeping within the budget guidelines
• Participates in the process of evaluating new or additional equipment during the annual capital budget planning/lifecycle process
• Accurately documents equipment malfunctions and notifies appropriate personnel according to established department guidelines, and reports downtime of mission critical systems
• Schedules and documents preventive maintenance for equipment according to established hospital and department guidelines
• Schedules employees' work hours, call schedule, vacation requests and holiday coverage, ensuring compliance with department standards
• Monitors staffing requirements and productivity levels by reviewing units of service and staffing levels on an annual or as needed basis and realigning staff or requesting changes in staffing as necessary
• Coaches, counsels, trains, motivates, evaluates and makes recommendations of staff development plan with emphasis on job performance annually or as needed
• Responsible for the formal performance appraisal process by maintaining performance files on each staff member and assisting with the communication of performance expectations and measurements to staff members
• Responsible for interviewing and evaluating applicants and makes employment recommendations as needed
• Responsible for overseeing the training and development of new employees and students as outlined in the department job specifications and competency plans
• Documents all counseling and disciplinary matters, and assists with maintenance of personnel records, as defined in established hospital policy and procedure
• Ensures quality patient care in the department by providing a conduit between department and institutional nursing practices, daily
• Assists with performing high-quality, cost-effective patient care in collaboration with the Radiologist and Hospital personnel
• Ensures confidentiality of all patient information and information systems' passwords, and monitors/adheres to established hospital safety procedures
• Actively participates in cost control by developing, evaluating, and maintaining internal expense tracking systems and monthly financial reporting methods for the department
• Participates in the review and formulation of policies and procedures and exam protocols when applicable
• Assures compliance with staff registration, certification for both state and national to achieve Joint Commission accreditation, and ensures that Joint Commission requirements specific to the department are fulfilled
• Guides the staff development process of the department to help employees succeed in job specific duties and to encourage continuous education by providing in service and career development opportunities, as needed
• Coordinates and conducts monthly staff meeting, facilitates meeting with other managers and division chiefs as necessary
• Guides performance improvement of the department by identifying opportunities to improve quality services for patients, families, and physicians and to ensure productive outcomes when change is required
• Acts as the primary liaison for the student programs by coordinating educational opportunities and maintaining amenable relationships with officials of the affiliated health care schools

Skills & Requirements

• Required bachelor's degree Bachelors in Radiological Sciences or Technical diploma Graduate of a formal diagnostic Radiology program and bachelor's degree
• Preferred master's degree Healthcare or Management related fields

Required Licenses/Certifications

• S-ARRT - ARRT RegTech Sonography by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology Or  
• RDMS - Cert-Reg Diag. Medical Sono by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology Or  
• MR-ARRT - ARRT RegTech Mag Reson Imaging by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology
• Required 3 years Clinical experience in Radiology And 1-year Formal supervisory experience or 5 years Radiology Advanced Specialist experience at hiring Hospital
• Preferred Experience in an academic environment and Radiology Experience in project management, business planning and quality improvement
