Job Description - Radiology Multi Modality Technologist - Night Shift

OVERVIEW

Provide advanced diagnostic imaging services while ensuring patient safety, comfort, and high-quality care throughout the imaging process. This role performs specialized imaging procedures, administers contrast media, operates advanced imaging equipment, and collaborates with radiologists and healthcare providers to obtain high-quality diagnostic images. The position also provides clinical leadership, mentors students and team members, supports departmental projects and operations, and serves as a resource for patient care, safety, and imaging excellence.

Schedule: Three overnight shifts per week; every other weekend; call and holiday rotation

Shift: Nights

Location: Mercyhealth Roscoe, Roscoe, IL
Pay Range: $27.17 - $53.77

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintains active status in the modalities in which they practice.

  • Assists the department coordinator by providing clinical leadership, completes projects, advanced level clinical duties and regular assignments as requested.

  • Is competent in all exams performed within the assigned modalities.

  • Corroborates patient clinical history with procedure, ensuring information is documented and available for use by the radiologist.

  • Prepares the patient for procedures, providing instructions to obtain desired results, gain cooperation, and minimize anxiety.

  • Selects and operates imaging equipment, image capture devices, and accessories to successfully perform procedures.

  • Positions patient to best demonstrate anatomic area of interest, respecting patient ability and comfort; immobilizes patient as necessary.

  • Practices aseptic technique as necessary,

  • Prepares and administers contrast media as appropriate to procedures performed; starts and maintains intravenous access.

  • Initiates basic life support action when necessary.

  • Provides patient education.

  • Provides input for supply and equipment decisions, maintains control of inventory and supplies for assigned area.

  • Provides practical instruction for students and partners.

  • Observes universal protocol, standard precautions and appropriate patient identifiers.

  • Applies principles of patient safety during all aspects of procedures, including assisting and transporting patients.

  • Other duties, tasks as assigned.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE  

Graduate of an accredited radiography program

Two to four years of experience as a technologist as a Radiographer is required. Experience in a hospital environment preferred

CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE

ARRT registered in Radiography required; the CT credential is required within two years of hire

IEMA-DNS radiography accreditation required if working in Illinois

WI-DSPS radiographer license required if working in Wisconsin

BLS/CPR required within 90 days of hire

                                   

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Experience in working with radiologic technologists, radiologists and support staff in a multimodality department
  • Proficiency in mentoring employees and providing corrective action appropriately
  • Experience in obtaining departmental accreditation
  • Ability to communicate in a friendly and effective manner
  • Demonstrated ability to foster excellent teamwork in a radiology department
  • Strong organizational skills with ability to work independently
  • Read/comprehend written and verbal instructions
  • Basic PC skills
  • Manage stress appropriately
  • Make decisions under pressure and handle multiple priorities
  • Manage anger/fear/hostility/violence of others appropriately

                                                                    

LEVEL OF SUPERVISION

Works independently, with limited direct supervision.

PAY RANGE:

$27.17 - $53.77
