Location: Houston, TX 77095 (On-site)


Schedule: 1st Shift | Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM


Pay Rate: $25.00 – $37.00 per hour (commensurate with experience)


Position Summary


iWorkforce Solutions is seeking a skilled R&D Forgings Technician II to join our team in Houston, TX. This position is primarily responsible for supporting forging and auxiliary operations in the Advanced Product Development (APD) Forge Shop. Responsibilities include working on die set-ups, billet spotting, fork truck and manipulator operation, press operation, and other duties related to press forging operations.


Duties will also include operating furnaces, performing heat treatment operations, band-saw and abrasive saw operations, and general housekeeping. While these are the principal responsibilities, the ideal candidate will have the necessary skills and aptitude to cross-train in other laboratory functions, such as metallography and mechanical testing.


Primary Duties & Responsibilities




  • Forging Operations: Die setup and forging crew functions (billet spotting, nip operation, press operation).




  • Equipment & Furnace Operations: Heat treat and forge furnace operations, as well as operating shop equipment such as fork trucks and manipulators to meet process requirements.




  • Material Preparation: Operation of band saws and abrasive saws.




  • Program Support: Active support of APD program activities.




  • Safety & Housekeeping: Adherence to all safety procedures and maintaining a clean, organized workspace.




  • Knowledge & Growth: Develop and maintain a strong working knowledge of APD shop equipment and operational practices.




Required Qualifications & Skills




  • Mechanical Aptitude: Strong mechanical aptitude is essential for success.




  • Technical Skills: Computer literacy and basic skills with office software (spreadsheets, word processors, Microsoft Office).




  • Soft Skills: Excellent communication and teamwork skills to thrive in a small, cohesive team.




  • Autonomy: Fast learner capable of operating responsibly with minimal supervision when necessary.




  • Adaptability: Flexible, versatile, and eager to cross-train in an R&D environment with changing demands.




Education




  • Minimum: Associate degree.




  • Preferred: 1–3 years of additional college coursework or trade school is a plus.




Experience




  • Minimum: 5 years in an industrial or laboratory environment.




  • Certifications: Forklift license and proven skill in handling industrial equipment is preferred.




Working Conditions




  • PPE Requirements: Requires the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, hearing protection, and steel-toed boots.




  • Physical Demands: Regular movement throughout the manufacturing floor, including standing, walking, and occasionally lifting up to 50 lbs.
